It appears like Alex Da Silva is doing more than just choreographing dances. The former Salsa dance instructor of “So You Think You Can Dance” has been given the final verdict. Alex Da Silva is sentenced to 10 years in a Los Angeles prison for raping one woman back in 2002 and assaulting another in 2009. The judgment for the rape charges and assault that Alex Da Silva did was handed down at the Los Angeles Superior Court. What’s more, he was also ordered to be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
So where and how does he get his victims? Prosecutors found out that Alex Da Silva gives dance lessons at salsa clubs where he meets these promising dancers, then assaults these ladies.
In September, a jury found Alex Da Silva guilty and convicted him for rape charges against a 22-year-old woman, as well as the assault with intent to commit rape of another lady in 2009. The jury deadlocked on four additional counts of violence, including the alleged rapes of two other women in 2004 and 2005. However, Judge Kathleen Kennedy dismissed those other charges. A defense attorney said the women who accused Alex da Silva were not telling the truth.
The “So You Think You Can Dance” former choreographer who appeared on the first four seasons of the show has been in jail since his 2009 arrest. But with no such luck right now, he will definitely pay the price for the rape charges and assault he has been sentenced with.
