“Tropic Thunder” star Alicia Silverstone has indeed quite an unconventional way of feeding his son, Bear Blu. Reports say Alicia chews the food, then spits it directly in her son’s mouth.

The 35-year-old Silverstone showed fans and moms everywhere her own personal mealtime routine with her ten-month-old son, Bear Blu, on her website TheKindLife.com. The actress even claims that the chewing-spitting routine is her favorite way to feed her son.

“I just had a delicious breakfast of miso soup, collards and radish steamed and drizzled with flax oil, cast iron mochi with nori wrapped outside, and some grated daikon,” Alicia Silverstone wrote on her lifestyle blog.

“Yum! I fed Bear the mochi and a tiny bit of veggies from the soup … from my mouth to his. It’s his favorite … and mine.”

In the accompanying video, “Clueless” star Alicia Silverstone munches on food from a bowl before having Bear Blu eat the pre-chewed food from her mouth.

“He literally crawls across the room to attack my mouth if I’m eating,” she wrote explaining how much Bear Blu loves getting food from her.

Fans who commented on the unorthodox mealtime practice of Alicia Silverstone with son Bear Blu garnered mixed reviews.

“I understand the benefits of this, but I’ve read a lot of studies that says that this can promote dental decay because you can transfer the bacteria that is in your mouth,” one woman wrote.

“Children should learn to eat with a spoon,” another wrote. “We are not birds, we are humans and if this works for Alicia and Bear then so be it.

“What is gonna happen when he gets a little older and sees someone eating, it would be quite embarassing for Bear Blu to go to them and try to eat the food they are already eating.”

Alicia Silverstone has long promoted a healthy, vegan style of living, and has authored books and recipes on ways to live a “kind” life.
