Artie Lange arrested in Paris, France
Actor and comedian Artie Lange has been arrested during his recent trip in Paris, France following a confrontation with his girlfriend.
According to reports, 44-year-old Lange spent one night behind the cold bars of French jail when he attempted to fight police officers outside of a theater in Paris, France.
Artie Lange explained his arrest during the “Nick and Artie” radio show on Monday. The comedian said that while their show was on break over the past few weeks, he decided to fly into a “white out” rage in Paris, France after he became upset with his girlfriend. Lange went on, saying that his girlfriend had gone to a theater in Paris with a friend following their argument, but he was so upset with what happened that he decided to follow her to the venue and began yelling, “Get out here, you effing c**t.”
The French police responded to the scene, and told Artie Lange to calm down. However, the confrontation only made the comedian angrier, subsequently taking a “swing” at the police officers.
During the argument, Artie Lange said that the cops ripped off his shirt before putting him in handcuffs and transporting him to a nearby French jail.
Artie Lange, who is known to have struggled with substance abuse in the past, claims that he was sober and clean during the argument with his girlfriend and the French police, adding that he was just really, really angry.
As for the girlfriend of the comedian,Lange said that he and the woman broke up after his arrest.
This is the latest addition in a series of woes for Lange in recent years. In January 2010, he was hospitalized after allegedly stabbing himself nine times, while in 2009, he had his driver’s license revoked after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs.
