Well it seems like a Star Trek Commander has been apprehended back here on Earth! Avery Brooks, actor from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and who portrayed the role of Commander-turned-Captain Benjamin Sisko was arrested by the authorities in Wilton, Connecticut on Sunday due to suspicions of driving under the influence.

According to E! News, the 63-year-old Avery Brooks was apprehended right after the police received a complaint of a person driving erratically near the intersection of Belden Hill and Seir Hill Road. When they got to the place, the police immediately pulled Avery Brooks over and after taking a sobriety test, Avery Brooks was arrested for driving under the influence.

However, Avery Brooks was released after he was booked and a court date was set for February 9.

If the Star Trek actor is convicted, Avery Brooks might get 6 months in jail, in most states in the United States, however,first-time offenders end up with probation. It seems like this DUI arrest is Avery Brooks’ first – and we sure hope it’s the last one.

Avery Brooks was part of the cast of all the seven seasons of ‘Deep Space Nine.’  He also played the character of Hawk on ‘Spenser: For Hire’ and in subsequent ‘Spenser’ TV movies, as well as in a short-lived spin-off in 1989. Avery Brooks’ was also used for the voice of Sisko in the video game ‘Star Trek: Legacy.’
