NFL wide receiver Braylon Edwards has finally settled his slander lawsuit, then donated the money to charity.

According to reports, the 29-year-old former San Francisco 49ers filed a $14 million lawsuit  against a Detroit restaurant and some of its employees for slander and extortion back in 2011, accusing them of spreading false rumors that he was involved in a bar fight which, Braylon Edwards claims cost him a $15 million NFL deal. However, neither the terms of the settlement nor the team that offered the contract were reported.

Braylon Edwards dropped the slander lawsuit last month after reaching a settlement with everyone involved. Sources claim that Edwards was happy to finally end the matter because he wants to take thsi time to focus on his football career.

Sources also added that Braylon Edwards will use the settlement money to establish scholarships for 100 kids. The NFL star has a foundation which serves under-privileged kids in education. It is unknown if his charity is the beneficiary of the settlement money from the slander lawsuit.

Braylon Edwards played in nine games for the San Francisco 49ers last season, catching 15 passes for 181 yards. He is a seven-year veteran who also has played for the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets.
