The engagement of Bret Michaels with longtime girlfriend Kristi Gibson has been reportedly called off at this time — this according to the rep of the rock singer.

According to reports, Poison frontman Bret Michaels — who was a “Celebrity Apprentice winner, a brain-hemorrhage survivor, and a pet-gear impresario — called off the engagement with his girlfriend Kristi Gibson, whom she proposed to on “Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It” in late 2010. The couple was already 16 years together at the time.

“Although the couple have separated, they remain great friends and are committed to jointly raising their two daughters, Raine and Jorja,” the rep of 49-year-old Michaels told People on Monday.

Reports said that Bret Michaels always seemed quite hesitant when it came to saying “I do,” telling People magazine before the engagement episode aired, “Love and marriage are the ultimate, but I still get a little sweaty about the marriage thing.”

Michaels and Kristi Gibson have two kids together: Raine, 12, and Jorja, 7. The two have been dating on and off for 18 years.

The rocker first gained fame as the lead vocalist of the glam metal band “Poison” who has sold over 15 million records in the United States alone and 30 million records worldwide. The band has also charted ten singles to the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100, including six Top 10 singles and the number-one single, “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.”

Aside from his career as the lead singer of a band, Michaels also has several solo albums to his credit, including a Soundtrack album to the movie “A Letter from Death Row,” in which Bret Michaels starred in, wrote and directed in 1998 and a classic Poison style rock album “Songs of Life” in 2003. The singer also appeared in a number of movies and TV shows, including as a judge on the talent show “Nashville Star,” which lead to his country influenced rock album “Freedom of Sound” back in 2005. He starred in the hit VH1 reality show “Rock of Love with Bret Michaels” and its sequels, which inspired his successful solo album “Rock My World.” Michaels was also the winning contestant on NBC’s reality show “Celebrity Apprentice 3” and starred in the reality television program “Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It.”
