Chris Brown breaks up with Karrueche Tran
October 5th, 2012 by faye
“Turn Up The Music” singer Chris Brown has officially broken up with his girlfriend, model Karrueche Tran, saying, “I don’t want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna.”
According to reports, R&B singer Chris Brown acknowledged on Thursday that he has renewed his “friendship” with pop star and ex-girlfriend Rihanna, the woman he was convicted of beating on the eve of the Grammy Awards back in February 2009.
The singer sent an unsolicited statement to CNN, announcing he was breaking up with Karrueche Tran, the 24-year-old model he began dating a year after he was arrested for the felony assault of Rihanna.
“I have decided to be single to focus on my career,” Brown said. “I love Karrueche very much but I don’t want to see her hurt over my friendship with Rihanna.
Chris Brown added, “I’d rather be single allowing us to both be happy in our lives.”
Meanwhile, Karrueche Tran posted a cryptic tweet Wednesday that appeared to be directed at Brown: “Bye baby.”
The announcement comes after Brown and Rihanna were seen together at the Jay Z concert in Brooklyn recently. The former couple had been hanging around each other a lot lately, and rumor has it that they had reunited romantically.
Rumors of their reunion was fueled last month when Rihanna gave Chris Brown a quick kiss and a hug during the MTV Video Music Awards as Brown walked to the stage to accept an award.
Previous reports have stated that 23-year-old Chris Brown has two more years of probation to serve for his felony assault conviction, although the judge lifted the “stay away” order in February 2011 with Rihanna’s consent.
“He just can’t bother her,” Rihanna’s lawyer, Donald Etra, said at the time.
Chris Brown has since made multiple public apologies to Rihanna for the attack, which he seemed to blame on his youth. Brown was 19 at the time.
“I feel like that we’re young,” Brown told CNN’s Larry King days after he got his sentence. “We’re both young. So nobody taught us how to love one another. Nobody taught us a book on how to control our emotions or our anger. I’m not trying to fall on the fact that I’m young. I’m just saying it’s a lot of stuff that I wish I could have changed that night.”
Chris Brown, Drake sued in NYC nightclub brawl
August 16th, 2012 by faye
Pop singers Chris Brown and Drake have been named in a lawsuit over the bottle-throwing brawl in a nightclub in New York City which involved the artists’ entourages. The company with ties to the said nightclub seeks to hold Brown and Drake responsible for the violent altercation that went down on June 14.
According to reports, Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., — which has a financial stake in the New York City venue where the melee happened — claims in their $16 million lawsuit that Chris Brown and Drake “shared a grudge against the other arising out of their romantic relationships with the same woman.”
EEL claims in the suit that the moment Chris Brown and Drake crossed paths, they “began to fight violently with each other.”
The lawsuit goes on, stating, “Each arrived with his own small army of bodyguards, ‘security’ personnel, employees, friends and other members of their entourage consisting of at least 15 heavily built men trained and/or experienced in hand-to-hand and weapons combat.”
Chris Brown and Drake should be blamed for a glass-throwing, broken-bottle-swinging free-for-all in a jam packed club “in circumvention of the venue’s extensive security measures,” says the lawsuit. Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. owns the trademark for Greenhouse, but since the owners of the club itself are not involved in the suit, they declined to give a comment.
There have been no criminal charges filed against anyone in the brawl, which left “With You” singer Brown, NBA star Tony Parker and many others injured. Police said that the fight started after members of Drake’s entourage confronted Chris Brown on the dance floor as he was about to leave the club’s basement lounge called W.i.P. However, the representatives of Drake are saying otherwise. Reps said that the rapper was on his way out and did not injure anyone.
The lawsuit, on the other hand, points to news accounts of bad blood between Chris Brown and Drake — both of whom have dated “Don’t Stop The Music” singer Rihanna. Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. believes that the two men encouraged, instigated, or at least failed to stop the fight, lawyer Andrew T. Miltenberg said.
“It’s their posse, and they’re in charge, and to the extent that they could have controlled or dissipated whatever was going on, we don’t believe they did,” Miltenberg said.
The lawsuit added that because of publicity about the brawl, a $4 million deal to license Greenhouse’s name for other clubs around the country fell through.
Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. is headed by a former Greenhouse owner, Jon Bakhshi. The current owners of the NYC nightclub face lawsuits over the melee, including a $20 million claim from Parker.
The city shut down the club for quite some time after the fight, and had it reopened on July 10. It is continuing to fight a State Liquor Authority effort to nix its liquor license.
Chris Brown progress-report hearing for his probation
July 12th, 2012 by faye
Singer-songwriter Chris Brown is said to have been a model probationer for three years now — until the brawl in a club with rapper, Drake.
According to reports, 23-year-old Chris Brown was not required to appear in person during his progress-report hearing in Los Angeles on recently, a previously scheduled court date to check up on the singer’s behavior while he remains under probation for beating up former girlfriend Rihanna back in 2009. It is reported that prosecutors want to discuss something with the judge which had come to their attention since the last time they met.
Fortunately, the progress-report hearing did not involve the nightclub brawl of Chris Brown and Drake’s entourage, which resulted in a few lawsuits — none of which Brown was named. Rather, Mary Murphy, a Deputy District Attorney asked Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg — who has signed off on some of the positive progress reports for Chris Brown over the years — for an accounting of the singer’s community service hours, telling her that she had noticed some discrepancies in the hours Brown had reported.
If you recall, Chris Brown was sentenced in August 2009 to five years formal probation for the beating incident of Rihanna, plus one year of domestic violence counseling (which he already completed) and 180 days of community labor.
Judge Schnegg ordered a detailed audit of Brown’s service and told his lawyer that she wants Chris Brown to appear in person next time for his progress-report hearing. Brown was said to be about halfway through by the time of his last progress-report hearing. Pat Harris, the attorney of Chris Brown, did not object to the audit and did not even appear concerned by the request of the judge.
Meanwhile, W.i.P. — the club where the brawl involving Chris Brown and Drake’s entourage occurred — is scheduled to reopen Wednesday night for the first time since the incident last June 16. As previous reports have stated, the New York Police Department closed it down after the melee.
“We are thankful to the court for permitting us to reopen and allowing our over 250 employees to get back to work immediately,” the club said in a statement. “When we reopen our doors, we will be focused on providing a safe and fun atmosphere for our customers. To that end we are enhancing our security and will continue our practice of exceeding the recommended security protocols for a club of our size.”
The statement added, “Just because the club has been allowed to reopen with a liquor license should not be construed to mean that there was no negligence on the club’s part,” countered attorney Javier Solano, counsel for two models who suffered lacerations during the Chris Brown-Drake brawl and are now suing Greenhouse and W.i.P.’s owner.”
“I just hope the club does everything it can to protect its patrons in the future. It’s certainly not my argument that people shouldn’t be allowed to drink and have a good time or that clubs should not make money. The clubs should be aware that they have a responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of their patrons. And they should be held responsible when they don’t protect those patrons.”
Before Greenhouse was allowed to reopen, owners of the club had to comply with several stipulations that are security-related, set forth by the NYPD and also asked them to hand over a fine worth $20,000.
Brawl victims at Chris Brown, Drake fight sue nightclub
July 4th, 2012 by faye
Two women who claim were injured during the brawl of Chris Brown and Drake have filed a lawsuit against the nightclub where the melee occurred, arguing that the brawl would not have happened if the club had not been over-serving people who were already severely intoxicated.
According to the lawsuit obtained by media outlet TMZ, Lucy Pavlovsky and Nadia Beddini claim they suffered permanent injuries in the bottle-smashing fight between Chris Brown and Drake inside the W.i.P nightclub in New York City on June 14. Pavlovsky and Beddini claim they suffered damage to their face, head, neck, body and extremities.
The media outlet obtained photos of Lucy who was accidentally involved in the Chris Brown and Drake fight, showing ugly lacerations to her arm which required stitches.
The lawsuit against W.i.P nightclub, which was filed in state court in New York City by attorney Javier Solano, states that the bottle-throwers were “sold and consumed alcohol in excessive amounts” even after they appeared heavily intoxicated.
The lawsuit also added that the nightclub failed to train properly the bouncers to handle such violent situation, as what happened during the Chris Brown and Drake brawl. Also, Pavlovsky and Beddini are suing the people who threw bottles, but since their identities are unknown as of the moment, they have listed the culprit as John Does one through five. However, neither Chris Brown nor Drake are named in the lawsuit.
The two injured women are suing W.i.P nightclub for unspecified damages.
A rep for the nightclub told TMZ, “We work hard to provide a safe environment. If an accident or injury occurs we try to respond appropriately. We will review the claims in this lawsuit and address them in court.”
Rihanna kisses person wearing Justin Bieber mask
June 29th, 2012 by edsel
Rihanna apparently hid a fetish for Justin Bieber. And since the real deal was taken by Selena Gomez, RiRi decided to kiss someone who wore a cardboard mask of the Biebs. (So who gets to throw the first bottle at Justin? Chris Brown? Drake? Meek Mills?)
The Hollywood Gossip reported that Rihanna tweeted an Instagram photo of herself planting a big wet one on the cheek of her Justin Bieber substitute. She then followed it up with a sneaky picture of “Justin” seated upon a ceramic throne with his trousers down.
“Me & the beebs yesterday!” Rihanna playfully announced on Twitter. “Shoutout to my photographer @jennnrosales,” she added.
The Hollywood Gossip identified @jennnrosales as Jennifer Rosales, one of Rihanna’s best friends. THG considered the possibility that Rosales was the mystery person behind the mask. She reportedly spent a lot of time with Rihanna and had also appeared in a lot of pictures with the ‘Umbrella’ singer.
Chris Brown, Drake offered $1 milion for PPV boxing match
June 28th, 2012 by edsel
How does a pay-per-view celebrity boxing match between Chris Brown and Drake –with Rihanna as the ring girl- sound to you, Bob Arum?
The Inquisitr reported that celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman offered the feuding rappers $1 million each to settle their differences in the ring. Billionaire soda bottling heir Alki David sponsored Feldman’s offer. David promised to donate an additional $1 million to a charity if Brown and Drake accepted.
The potential PPV boxing event that could Chris Brown and Drake was supposedly planned for a target date of August 25th. Depending on what venue was free at the time, the bout could be held in Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
“Obviously they have a grudge,” Feldman told NY Daily News. “It’s just three 1-minute rounds,” he elaborated on the possible boxing match between Chris Brown and Drake. He also promised that “No one will get seriously hurt.”
According to the Inquisitr, Damon Feldman added that he would be delighted if ‘Battleship’ star Rihanna agreed to serve in a certain capacity at the potential pay-per-view boxing event. “I would love to have Rihanna as the ring girl,” he told the NY Daily News.
Feldman’s profitable proposal was supposedly news to representatives of Chris Brown. Breezy’s reps claimed to have “never heard” of the planned pay-per-view boxing match to settle the differences between their client and Drake.
Neither Drake nor Rihanna have commented about the potential boxing gig.
The Inquisitr reported that a fight between Chris Brown and Drake erupted at New York nightclub W.i.P on June 14th. The rappers reportedly fought over Rihanna, who was Brown’s ex-girlfriend and rumored to be a lover of Drake. Eight people got injured when the rappers’ parties began hurling liquor bottles at each other. The list of victims included Brown himself, Brown’s bodyguard, and NBA player Tony Parker.
Rihanna bodyguard punches paparazzo in face in London
June 28th, 2012 by edsel
Justin Bieber and Alec Baldwin would be proud of that bodyguard of Rihanna who punched a paparazzo in the face this Sunday.
TMZ reported that the ‘Battleship’ star was carousing at London’s Whiskey Mist nightclub on Sunday night. When Rihanna decided to call it quits for the night, her bodyguards began clearing the way for her to the exit and her car.
That was when a paparazzo (who was not affiliated with TMZ, assured the webloid) got too close to Rihanna. One of the giants in charge of protecting RiRi wasn’t in the mood to be civil to the hapless celebrity photographer. That bodyguard decked the pap in the face.
TMZ obtained a video of the paparazzo-punching incident. The Rihanna bodyguard in question was a “huge guy with the bald head.”
The video did not show if the paparazzo ever got up from the punch he took in the faced.
According to TMZ, ‘Battleship’ star Rihanna was already inside her car when her overprotective bodyguard decked the paparazzo.
A good number of rumors name Rihanna as the cause of the fight between Chris Brown and Drake two weeks ago.
Chris Brown-Drake nothing like Biggie-Tupac, W.i.P. tells Tony Parker
June 26th, 2012 by edsel
Chris Brown and Drake weren’t Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., said sources close to the W.i.P. club regarding the $20 million lawsuit that NBA player Tony Parker filed against them.
According to The Hollywood Gossip, French native Parker filed the huge lawsuit against the New York City nightclub last week. He claimed the club was responsible for the brawl between Chris Brown and Drake.
Tony Parker was at the club on the night that Chris Brown, Drake, Meek Mill, and their parties started hurling bottles at each other. Parker got caught in the crossfire and sustained a scratched retina caused by flying shards of glass. He required emergency eye surgery and was currently recuperating in Paris with the hopes of participating in the London Summer Olympics.
According to his lawsuit, Tony Parker claimed that W.i.P. staff should have known better than to let Brown and Drake near each other. Everyone allegedly knew that ”There was bad blood between Drake and Brown,” Parker pointed out, which was rumored to be caused by both men’s mutual love interest Rihanna. And it only got worse because W.i.P. sold them alcohol.
E! News reported that sources connected with W.i.P. countered Parker’s accusations of engineering the fight to make money. They said that Drake and Chris Brown did not have previous histories of violence (well, at least not towards other men, given Brown’s infamous beating of Rihanna). So the fight that ensued two weeks ago came out of the blue for the club’s staff.
In addition, the W.i.P. sources said that “Chris Brown and Drake are not Biggie and Tupac,” the last two, late rappers being known for their bloody feud.
E! News further reported that W.i.P. refuted the claim of Tony Parker that the club was way understaffed on June 15. The E! News sources stated that 15 security guards were on duty during the night of the brawl.
So far, no charges have been filed relating to the brawl between Chris Brown and Drake. W.i.P. remained closed for the meantime while the NYPD investigated the matter.
Tony Parker recovering in France from injury during Chris Brown brawl
June 26th, 2012 by edsel
NBA star Tony Parker was recovering in Paris from emergency eye surgery to repair the corneal laceration he suffered in a bar brawl between Chris Brown and Drake at a New York City nightclub two weeks ago.
In an exclusive statement from Parker’s attorney Elizabeth Eilender, E! News reported that Parker is supposed to play for his home country of France in the London Olympics next month. “We hope and expect he will be able to play,” Eilender stated, “But that is between him and his doctor.”
Attorney Eilender also said that Tony Parker would not be giving any interviews about the $20 million lawsuit he filed yesterday against the W.i.P. club. (NYPD shut down the club two days after the June 15 brawl.) Eilender herself was of the opinion that even her teenage daughter “could have predicted” that the club courted trouble by allowing Chris Brown and Drake into the same premise.
“This area of the annexed club,” according to Elizabeth Eilender, “Was supposed to be even more exclusive. So,” she continued, if the W.i.P. club touted that area to be an exclusive club experience, then it should have also assigned more security to it.
“You would think they would expect a higher level of security and discretion,” she accused the owners of the W.i.P. club, “In letting Chris Brown and Drake” into the same area.
E! News reported that the negligence lawsuit of Tony Parker accused the W.i.P. club of “sitting persons known to be hostile to each other at the same time.” The reason for the controversial move -as well ”in serving liquor to intoxicated persons after they were obviously intoxicated”- ”in order to generate funds for themselves.”
The negligence lawsuit of Tony Parker also stated that the building housed another club, Greenhouse, that was known to be a “public nuisance” due to having previously hosted violent incidents. W.i.P. was in the basement of the larger venue; the smaller club had earlier been denied a liquor license.
In addition, Parker’s lawsuit believed that W.i.P. was specifically located in Greenhouse’s basement so that it could obtain a liquor license through the technicality of being an additional bar of Greenhouse.
E! News reported that the NYPD closed both Greenhouse and W.i.P. for the time being.
Attorney Elizabeth Eilender was not convinced of W.i.P.’s claims of being “shocked, positively shocked” when Chris Brown and Drake “broke out into a fight over this girl.”
The lawyer of Tony Parker referred to rumors that the fight between Chris Brown and Drake started over Rihanna, who had been romantically involved with both rappers at one time or another.
“Come on,” she urged E! News. “It’s silly. My teenage daughter,” Elizabeth Eilender scoffed, “Could have predicted this.”
A rep for Chris Brown called the brawl a “brutal attack.” E! News earlier reported that the ‘Birthday Cake’ rapper and his crew would fully cooperate with the authorities. For his part, Drake denied any involvement, and his rep claimed that his client was already leaving the club when the brawl began.
Rihanna, Chris Brown reportedly rendezvous at NY hotel
June 25th, 2012 by edsel
Rumors continue to spread that Chris Brown supposedly cheated on his girlfriend Karrueche Tran by seeing his ex-girlfriend Rihanna just days after Brown took a bottle to the face during a brawl with Drake.
The Hollywood Gossip had earlier posited that Brown and Drake had fought over Rihanna at the W.i.P. nightclub in New York City. Now it mentioned reports that Brown and his ex-girlfriend allegedly had a secret hotel rendezvous.
Chris Brown supposedly “snuck in through the side door at the Ganesvort Hotel,” claimed a source who hung around at the aforementioned hotel, “Super late at night and went to Rihanna’s room.”
According to The Hollywood Gossip, the source was adamant that “They’re seeing each other” because Rihanna was “just as obsessed with him.” Else, why would Rihanna duet with Brown for two songs after he beat the ‘S&M’ singer black and blue years back?
The rumored hotel hookup between Breezy and RiRi was soon crushed by Hollyscoop.
“Completely not true,” a representative for Chris Brown declared. “As we have said many, many times before,” the rep reminded everyone who wanted to see a catfight between Rihanna and Brown’s new girlfriend in addition to the brawl between Breezy and Drizzy, “He is very happy with his girlfriend, Karrueche Tran.”
