Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and his wife are being sued by his former housekeeper, who claims that she was overworked and underpaid.
According to reports, 48-year-old Chris Cornell and his wife Vicky hired Elia Mora to clean their house back in 2006, and she stayed with the couple until December 2011.In the lawsuit, Elia Mora claims that on the day after Christmas last year, Vicky needed her to return to do more household work, but the housekeeper refused to do additional cleaning after finishing up her shift. Apparently, it seems that it enraged the wife of Chris Cornell, who Elia Mora claims responded to her by screaming a slew of insults before firing her.

Mora’s lawsuit claims that Chris Cornell and Vicky forced her to work 43 hours a week without overtime pay, and was never given uninterrupted 30-minute lunches or uninterrupted 10-minute rest periods.

However, the lawyer of Chris Cornell said in a statement that he believes Elia Mora and her lawyer were just attempting to make a splash in the media, adding: “The true facts are that Ms. Morales did not work full-time for the Cornells, was not fired by the Cornells and belatedly raises the spurious claims only after another one of her claims, for workers compensation for alleged injuries, was denied.”

In the meantime, Soundgarden is getting ready to release its sixth studio album (and first in 16 years), “King Animal,” due on November 13. The first single, “Been Away Too Long,” was released last week.

Chris Cornell is known for his numerous solo works and soundtrack contributions since 1991, in addition to being the founder and frontman for Temple of the Dog, the one-off tribute band dedicated to his former roommate, Andrew Wood. Cornell’s signature excellence as a musician is generally noted as his four-octave vocal range, as well as his powerful vocal belting technique. He has released three solo studio albums, “Euphoria Morning” (1999), “Carry On” (2007), and “Scream” (2009). Cornell was ranked 4th in the list of “Heavy Metal’s All-Time Top 100 Vocalists” by Hit Parader. He performed the theme song to the James Bond film “Casino Royale” (2006), “You Know My Name.” Cornell also released his first live solo album titled “Songbook” in November 2011.

Famous rapper Kanye West clearly made more enemies than friends during his performance in Australia’s Big Day Out Festival. The All Falls Down singer put his fans in a very sour mood by arriving 45 minutes late, reports Stereogum. Not only his followers waiting in the rain were unhappy – the newly reunited band Soundgarden were far from pleased with his tardiness and unprofessional attitude.

The Seattle band was forced to play their set at the neighboring stage which was currently undergoing a soundcheck, while the music of Kanye West drowned that of Soundgarden’s, making the fans of the band all the more annoyed and disappointed. Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who himself was very much unnerved, shouted out  to the crowd:

“Sounds like there’s children playing music there, retarded children, retarded as in held back. There’s no other word for it” quipped Chris Cornell to their irritated, booing fans.

As much as we may have loved and agreed to what Chris Cornell said, he may also be in serious trouble for referring to Kanye West as “retarded”. Nevertheless, a little respect and professionalism from Kanye West would not hurt, right?

What would be the response of Kanye West regarding the fearless comment of Chris Cornell? That’s what you should stay tuned for!
