Actor Chris Klein confesses in an interview that his terrible alcohol issues got way out of hand that it came to a point where it almost killed him.
Back in 2010, the 33-year-old actor was arrested by the authorities due to driving on a Los Angeles freeway with an extremely high blood-alcohol level. Shortly after his arrest, he was checked into rehab to deal with his alcohol issues.
In an interview with People magazine, Chris Klein reflects on how his film career skyrocketed and then was endangered the day he developed alcohol issues.
“I would have died, and I think about that every single day,” Chris tells the magazine about his alcohol issues. “It got to the point where I was a fragile shadow of the young man that came into this business. Today, I’m the luckiest guy alive.”
The actor was already arrested twice for driving under the influence and even served some time behind bars. During this dark period, he and Katie Holmes ended their relationship. Chris Klein has currently been sober for nearly 19 months.
Chris Klein first made a splash opposite Reese Witherspoon in the 1999 comedy movie “Election” and that same year, he starred in the ensemble hit “American Pie,” which became a popular film franchise.
