Basketball Wives drops Dwight Howard baby mama, two other ladies
June 18th, 2012 by edsel
The gag order Dwight Howard received against baby mama Royce Reed three years back reportedly led to ‘Basketball Wives‘ axing Reed and two other stars from the reality show.
Production insiders informed TMZ that Jennifer Williams and Kesha Nichols will be keeping Reed company. The three will reportedly be replaced next season, and it was still unclear who would be taking their spots.
Those same ‘Basketball Wives’ sources said it won’t be long before producers gave the baby mama of Dwight Howard and her two co-stars -whom the sources called ”dead weight” - their walking papers.
According to TMZ, Royce Reed was cut because a 2009 gag order forbade her to talk about her ex-husband Dwight Howard in any way. In addition, the other ladies had also decided to ostracize her, so Royce couldn’t shoot scenes with the rest of the cast.
Meanwhile, producers reportedly believe that Jennifer Williams was too much of a liability after she sued ‘Basketball Wives’ co-star Nia Crooks after the latter slapped her during the show. And Kesha Nichols, the ex-wife of Golden State Warriors player Richard Jefferson, was supposedly “just too boring”.
“We don’t comment on casting until everything is final,” a representative of VH1 informed TMZ when asked about the allegedly-axed ‘Basketball Wives’ stars. “Thanks for checking in.”
Judge in Dwight Howard custody case refuses to step down
April 3rd, 2012 by faye
Judge Tim Shea, the controversial judge from the custody case of NBA star Dwight Howard has reportedly refused to step down, despite baby mama Royce Reed arguing and insisting for his removal.
As previous reports have stated, Royce Reed filed a motion earlier last month, demanding the removal of Judge Tim Shea from her custody case with Dwight Howard because she claims that the judge is biased against mothers who have babies out of wedlock with NBA players.
Reed, who is currently fighting to retain primary custody of their son, says that the attorney of Dwight Howard is listed as one of Tim Shea’s endorsers on his website, arguing that with that there is an apparent conflict of interest.
Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard filed docs in response, defending the position of Tim Shea as the mediator in their custody case. Howard claims the only reason Royce Reed perceives a bias is because she’s intolerable in court, “making faces, spinning around in a chair, laughing,” and even “storming out of the courtroom.”
Reports says judge Tim Shea refused to remove himself from the custody case this week.
Jane Carey, the attorney of Royce Reed said, “We believe that the judge’s ruling is erroneous and that it does not conform to the governing case law.”
Reed plans to take her case to the Supreme Court.
Ex-girlfriend of Dwight Howard wants the judge out in custody battle
March 21st, 2012 by faye
Royce Reed, former girlfriend of Dwight Howard, wants the judge handling their custody battle to be taken off the case, claiming he is biased with “NBA baby mamas.”
According to the reports, Royce Reed is currently battling Orlando Magic player Dwight Howard in a custody battle of their son, Braylon. Howard filed legal docs earlier this month to try and win custody from Reed, claiming she interferes with his relationship with their son and makes it a struggle for him to see the boy on his scheduled days. In a strange turn of events, Dwight Howard sued Royce Reed for an amount of over $500,000 last year after she violated a court order that prohibited her from mentioning his name in the media — specifically on “Basketball Wives.“ Reed allegedly ignored the order and dropped a few negative things to say about Dwight Howard on Twitter, which lead to him to seize her assets, including freezing bank accounts and taking away her car. Additionally, Royce Reed also violated the clause that ordered her not to put their son in the spotlight when she posted a picture of Braylon and her boyfriend, Dezmon Briscoe of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in bed sleeping.
However, the “Basketball Wives” star came back this week with a motion of her own. Royce Reed wants Judge Tim Shea taken off the their custody case. She claims he has a bias against baby mamas and she fears he may side with Dwight Howard because the latter is a local celebrity.
According to the docs filed by Royce Reed, she claims Judge Shea wouldn’t let her present her side during a court hearing last month. Reed’s lawyer also filed an affidavit saying that during the hearing, Judge Shea said he would award Dwight Howard custody, then decided to delay his decision, despite the fact that no evidence had been presented.
Royce Reed said, “I am afraid if Judge Shea continues to preside over this case, I will lose custody of my son.”
Dwight Howard, on the other hand, said: “It’s very important. Hopefully me and my son’s mom will come to a better agreement for my son. When I do see him, we have the best time in the world. He acts just like me. He tries to run like me. He looks back and smiles like me. Fatherhood is great and it will get better. He’s young. He’s gonna need his father in his life. People say you don’t need a father to be successful. I take offense to that. I had an argument with my mom about Father’s Day and why it’s not celebrated like Mother’s Day.”
“I would never, ever desert my child. A lot of my friends didn’t have fathers growing up, and they were very upset that their fathers weren’t around. I was lucky to have mine around,” Dwight Howard concluded.
