Singer-songwriter Gotye has reportedly slammed the recent “Glee” cover of his hit song “Somebody That I Used to Know.” Gotye said it was “ultra-dry.”
According to reports, Belgian-Australian singer Gotye said that the rendition of his song, which featured series regular Darren Criss and guest star Matt Bomer performing “Somebody That I Used To Know,” was “ultra dry.”
“They did such a faithful arrangement of the instrumentals but the vocals were that pop ‘Glee’ style, ultra-dry, sounded pretty tuned and the rock has no real sense,” Gotye, real name Wally de Backer, admitted to the Sunday Mail. “Like it’s playing to you from a cardboard box.”
Gotye also said that the cover “made it sound dinky and wrong.”
Gotye is hardly the first musician to diss the show.
The Foo Fighters‘ Dave Grohl and members of the band, Kings of Leon, have also made it known they aren’t fans of the FOX show, “Glee.”
