Jermaine Hopkins sentenced to 30 days in jail for drug conviction

“Lean on Me” star Jermaine Hopkins has been sentenced to 30 days behind bars for his drug conviction after allegedly trying to buy 200 pounds of marijuana from an undercover cop.
According to reports, 38-year-old Hopkins was sentenced to time served on Tuesday, after spending 30 days in jail following his initial arrest for the drug conviction. The actor was also sentenced to three years probation.
Jermaine Hopkins struck a plea deal to reduce his sentence for the drug conviction he is facing. In exchange for pleading guilty to marijuana for sale, the prosecutors dropped the charge of illegal control of enterprise. The illegal control of enterprise is legal speak for organized crime. Jermaine had previously faced up to five years in prison.
Jermaine Hopkins said, “I am so glad to put this legal battle behind me so that I can begin moving forward with re-establishing my acting career.”
As previous reports have stated, the actor was arrested in an Arizona sting operation last December – after allegedly buying 200 pounds of pot from an undercover cop. Officials claim they found an additional 100 pounds of weed in the car of Jermaine Hopkins.
“Cash Rules” star Jermaine Hopkins goes to Disney World before prison

Actor Jermaine Hopkins spent some last-minute time at Disney World with his family days before he was sentenced to go to jail for his arrest last year.
The “Cash Rules” star told TMZ that he was nervous about spending some time behind bars, so he consulted a pastor in Newark, New Jersey – who was coincidentally Whitney Houston’s old pastor. Jermaine Hopkins was advised by the pastor to spend quality time with his family while he still can.
Hopkins took the pastor’s advice and immediately flew his family down to Orlando to Disney World last week.
According to previous reports, Hopkins was arrested in Arizona back in December 2011 for buying 200 pounds of weed from an undercover cop. The actor was booked into jail on two felony counts of possessing, transporting and trying to sell marijuana. A subsequent search of his apartment in nearby Avondale also turned up another 100 pounds, its value was estimated at $50,000.
Jermaine Hopkins said that it was the first time he and his kids had ever been there at Disney World, adding, “We had a great time!”
Jermaine Hopkins is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday. He faces up to five years in prison.
