Actor and comedian Jim Carrey is firing back at his former girlfriend, Jenny McCarthy, after she said that Carrey turned his back on her autistic son.

According to reports, former Playboy model Jenny McCarthy claimed that Jim Carrey did not keep a relationship with her 10-year-old son, Evan, after they decided to part ways. But the “Bruce Almighty” star has something to say about McCarthy’s comments.

“I will always do what I believe is in the best interest of Evan’s well being. It is unfortunate that Evan’s privacy is not being considered,” 50-year-old Jim Carrey told The Daily News. He added, “I love Evan very much and will miss him always.”

Jenny McCarthy was on the radio show of Howard Stern on Monday, telling the radio host that Jim was refusing to keep in touch with Evan, whose father is actor John Mallory Asher. Jenny and John divorced back in 2005.

“I’ve tried to ask [Jim] numerous times” to see Evan, “because my son still asks,” 39-year-old Jenny McCarthy told Howard Stern. But then again, the “Love in the Wild” host admitted that she had not reached out directly to Jim Carrey.

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey dated for more than five years after calling it quits on April 2010.

At the time, Jim Carrey sent out a light-hearted tweet, saying “I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best! S’okay!”

Reports say that the actor’s self-professed depression may have played a role in the split of the two celebrity couple.

“I think you can love people from a distance and respect him,” Jenny McCarthy said of Jim Carrey, adding that she still loves him. “But as a mother, you just hope when you have a relationship with someone, it has nothing to do with the child when you break up.”

But, sources close to Jim said that it is quite strangely coincidental that Jenny is making such accusations right when her new dating show is about to have its premiere … two years after she and the actor parted ways.
