Two years ago, reality star Kat Von D lost her house and her beloved pet cat Valentine to a fire. Now her insurance company is suing her for causing that fire in the first place.
According to E! News, State Farm Insurance has filed a lawsuit against the ‘LA Ink’ star at the Los Angeles Superior Court today. The insurance company is asking for almost a million dollars.
SFI claimed that it paid for $909,199 worth of damages caused by the house fire. The insurance company now demanding that Kat Von D pay them back because the fire was her fault.
Court documents obtained by E! News stated that the cause of the house fire were multiple lit candles that had been left unattended. According to State Farm Insurance, those candles supposedly started a blaze that torched the entire compound and everything in it- including Von D’s Mexican hairless cat Valentine. Reps for Von D could not be immediately contacted.
“My house burned down last night with my cat inside,” Kat Von D had tweeted after the house fire. ”In order to gain everything,” she supposed, “You must lose everything…” She then bid goodbye to her pet with a fond “R.I.P. My little Valentine.”
