ABC News special correspondent Katie Couric doesn’t seem to be all that popular with the “Good Morning America” staffers because reports say that the staff of the show are totally annoyed at Couric.
According to reports, 55-year-old Katie Couric is a fill-in host this week on “Good Morning America” because its host, Robin Roberts, is currently on vacation. However, it is said that the staffers of the show are ticked off by Couric, claiming it’s a slap in the face to Roberts.
GMA is breathing down the neck of the “Today Show” and could overtake it in the ratings this week, breaking the record of NBC morning show dominance for years. The week-long stint of Katie Couric, together with the fact that millions of people have their TV sets tuned to ABC because of “Dancing with the Stars” – could put it over the top.
According to “Good Morning America” sources, it is offending that chief officers chose the week that Robin Roberts was on vacation to put Katie Couric on the show. They claim that Robin has been co-hosting GMA since 2005 and is a major reason the show is doing so well. As one insider put it, “They should have put Katie on when George was on vacation.”
And the contingent of GMA staffers who are agitated is large, because they claim Robin Roberts is well-liked. And sources added that although Robin is unhappy with the Katie Couric move, she has not badmouthed anyone.
