Katy Perry, Russell Brand officially divorced
Pop star Katy Perry and English comedian Russell Brand are officially divorced.
According to the reports, the marriage of the “Fireworks” singer to the British comedian came to a hard, court-sanctioned end on Monday. Their 14-month love affair seemed to end just as quickly as it had begun. The former couple came to an agreement about their divorce back in February. As per the California law, they had to wait for six months for their marriage to be officially dissolved.
Katy Perry and Russell Brand tied the knot back on October 23, 2010, then Brand filed for divorce the following December, citing irreconcilable differences. And although the two have become officially single now, that did not hinder them from getting back into the dating scene. Back in March, Katy Perry appeared at the Paris party scene together with hot French model Baptiste Giabiconi. Just a month later after that, the pop star was spotted again — this time with Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd at Coachella. On the other hand, Russell Brand was linked to hot Hungarian model Nikolett Barabas in March.
In May, however, Brand confessed to Ellen Degeneres his still-existing affection towards Katy Perry, saying, “I still love her as a human being” then added that he’s only got “love and positivity for her.”
The former couple are both busy with their lives as of the moment. Russell Brand, who found himself embroiled in the middle of a phone-throwing incident last March, went on to host the MTV Movie Awards two months later. Katy Perry, on the other hand, recently starred in “Part of Me,” which opened just last week to a whopping $11 million. The singer also announced her plans about launching her own record label, and is also reportedly considered a judge for “American Idol” following the departures of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.
