Kelis owes back taxes in the State of California
Aside from the back taxes that Kelis owes in New York, the singer is also alleged to have back taxes in the State of California.
According to reports, after Kelis completed the promotional rounds for her new single “Distance,” it appears that she has even more back taxes that she owes to the federal government. The 32-year-old singer allegedly owes more taxes to the State of California amounting to $61, 737.29, with an additional $213, 932.02, leaving her with more debt at almost double the original sum she owes. Kelis might have to pay up to $606,096.12.
Additionally, another tax lien reportedly showed that Kelis owes $330,426,71 for the years 2004 and 2010. The “Milkshake” singer is thought to have earned money in excess of what is considered her usual amount for the earlier tax year, as she supported Britney Spears during her The Onyx Hotel tour. About two years ago, Kelis headlined her own concert dates as she travelled the United States with Swedish singer, Robyn.
