Smooth jazz saxophonist Kenny G has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife, Balynda Helene Benson-Gorelick, after she filed for legal separation back in January.
According to reports, Laura Wasser, the attorney of Kenny G, filed the legal docs on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation. The soon-to-be-former-couple have been married for 20 years.
In the docs, 56-year-old Kenny G — whose real name Kenneth Bruce Gorelick — indicated that they have a prenuptial agreement, which is a significant part of their divorce because the singer’s worth a reported $50 million. The musician also asks the court for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s minor son, 14-year-old Noah, and that he and his wife be responsible for their own legal fees.
Previous reports have stated that Balynda Helene Benson-Gorelick filed for legal separation seven months from Kenny, also citing “irreconcilable differences” and requested full physical custody of Noah.
Kenny G is an American adult contemporary and smooth jazz saxophonist. His fourth album, “Duotones,” brought him breakthrough success in 1986. Kenny is said to be the biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era, with global sales amounting to more than 75 million albums.
