Regular watchers and fans of reality TV show “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ are well aware of the struggles of cast Kim Richards when she fully submitted to her alcoholism and substance abuse issues, after which she completed a 30-day rehab program. Kim Richards says that her alcoholism got so bad and says: “I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror.”

Kim Richards opens up about her alcohol and substance abuse to Bravo TV’s Andy Cohen in an interview which will be out on February 13. In the said interview, Kim Richards candidly talked about her struggles to remain sober and her feelings after her recent stint in rehab.

The 47-year-old Kim Richards confessed to Andy Cohen, “I just didn’t like me anymore. I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror.”

Kim Richards tried to get her normal life back and finally get over her alcoholism and substance abuse by checking into the Betty Ford Center in California where she completed the 30-day programme. Kim Richards admitted that previous attempts to seek help were futile and unsuccessful.

“I’ve struggled with it, and I’ve been working on it for a while. I am a person who has done it and relapsed and done it (again),” said Kim Richards.

‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ star said she knew that it was time for her to finally get help after seeing her wayward actions on the hit reality show.

“I had so much guilt and shame for my behavior, then I drank to cover the guilt and shame and make it go away. It’s a vicious cycle.” Kim Richards concluded on her interview with Andy Cohen.

Kim Richards ended the interview by saying that she is “really trying” to stay healthy and move forward with her life.

If you think the you’ve had enough dose of the real-life drama in the first two seasons of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, wait until you see the reunion special which starts on the 30th of January (9 p.m.) – the first of their three-part series which reunites the ladies. As a teaser for the regular viewers of the show, The Real Housewives released a sneak preview where Kim Richards admits to host Andy Cohen, “I’m an alcoholic.”

Although the alcoholic Kim Richards might not be the best shocker for fans of the 90210 action, since she has been known to exhibit alarming behavior on-screen and to castmates who have said as much themselves.

But wait, there’s more! The said clip that was released also shows the other ladies alternately swearing at each other and crying.

Kim Richards has recently been in rehab, hence her revelation about being alcoholic to “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” host Andy Cohen. In reference to the alcoholic issue, Kim Richards’ co-star Adrienne Maloof expressed her admiration for the star’s courage to take action.

“It takes a lot of courage to do what she has done. It’s a step in the right direction” Maloof said.
