Gloria James, mom of NBA star Lebron James, has finally settled her valet-slapping case at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach last year – and she won’t be serving time in jail because James was able to struck a plea deal.
During a hearing Monday morning for her valet-slapping case, the battery charge against Gloria James was dropped, but the disorderly intoxication charge was upheld. The mother of Lebron James, who was not present during the hearing, was sentenced to 20 hours of community service and ordered to donate one thousand dollars to the Haitian Earthquake Relief Fund. When Gloria James completes her community service hours, the disorderly conduct charge will be dismissed.
According to the arrest report of Gloria James, on April 7th just before 5 a.m., 44-year-old James asked valet Rock Feller Sorel to get her car. The report states the valet then gave the keys to the valet cashier. Then, James allegedly confronted Sorel and said, “where are my *expletive* keys?” The arrest report adds that James then “struck the victim with an open hand across the right side of the face.” Police said that Gloria James fell to the ground after losing her balance.
The authorities were called to the scene and noted in their report that the mother of Lebron James was uncooperative, had bloodshot eyes and a “strong odor of alcohol on her breath.”
Valet Sorel has filed a civil suit against Gloria James citing pain, emotional distress and the humiliation she allegedly caused him. The valet-slapping case is scheduled to be heard in the first week of April.
