Singer-songwriter Mark DeBarge, former member of the 80’s singing family group DeBarge, has been arrested due to drug possession last week.

According to reports, 53-year-old Mark DeBarge was in his Hollywood hotel room with some woman – who was on parole – early Wednesday morning. The woman’s parole officer stopped by for a routine check-up, searched the room and discovered drugs on the premises. However, there was no information as to what type of narcotics were recovered.

Once the drugs were found, Mark DeBarge and his female companion were placed under arrest. The singer was booked for drug possession and has since been released on bail.

Mark is a trumpet-player and songwriter who is best known for co-writing the DeBarge signature hit “Stay With Me”. The timeless chart-topper has been sampled by such great artists as the Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige and Mariah Carey.

Mark DeBarge and troubled siblings Bunny, El, James, Chico, Bobby and Randy have all fallen victims to drugs and alcohol addiction.  Last month, El was arrested for drug possession, while last year, James was sent to jail on drug and assault with a deadly weapon charges.
