Movies don’t always reflect real life situations. A hero on the big screen may not be a hero off-cam. And we think Mark Wahlberg may have gotten a little way over his head about the 9/11 attack:

“If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first class cabin and then me saying “OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.”

These were the exact words of Mark Wahlberg during his interview at Men’s Journal pertaining to the 9/11 attack, which he later admitted as ridiculous and irresponsible. He then made an apologetic statement:

“To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with, and to suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible. ‘I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention.”

What was this Entourage actor thinking at the time of his interview with Men’s Journal? Was it a spur-of-the-moment answer to a question or is it something else? Clearly, a widow of one of the thousands who lost their lives during the 9/11 attack wasn’t anywhere near happy with what Mark Wahlberg stated. Deann Burnett-Bailey, whose husband Thomas rushed the cockpit of Flight 93, called Mark Wahlberg as “disrespectful” and “grandstanding”.

How many more families of the ones who died in the 9/11 attack were offended by such unpremeditated and careless response from Mark Wahlberg? Well, this one should be a lesson for him now – no more reckless statements, we say.
