Mary J. Blige: TD Bank at fault for loaning money to bankrupt charity
June 19th, 2012 by edsel
The bankrupt charity run by Mary J. Blige claimed that they did not have to pay back a bank for a massive loan they defaulted on because it was the bank’s fault for lending them money in the first place.
TMZ earlier reported that TD Bank sued the Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now. The charity took out a $250,000 loan from the bank in June 2011 with the understanding that they will pay back their loan by December. However, come the deadline, the charity could only cough up $400 in payment.
According to recent legal paperwork obtained by TMZ, Mary J. Blige and company countered the suit by claiming that TD Bank did not do its job.
They alleged that if the bank took a good look at the charity’s finances, it would have realized that the charity was deep in debt, which should have disqualified them from the loan in the first place.
Furthermore, Blige and Stoute’s foundation claimed that the woman who signed for the loan did not possess the authority to do so. Therefore, TD Bank should not have granted the loan to her, as Blige’s charity was not legally compelled to make good on a loan it did not authorize.
The case between TD Bank and Mary J. Blige continues to rage.
Chris Brown, Drake never touched during fight, says Man-E Jay
June 18th, 2012 by edsel
An eyewitness claimed that rapper Drake was “pissed” with Chris Brown shortly before an “unknown provocation” kicked off a bottle-throwing fight between their entourages that injured Brown and one of his bodyguards.
Gossip Cop gained exclusive on-the-scene details from eyewitness Man-E Jay, a stylist who was in the room when the fight took place early Thursday. According to Jay, the fight between Brown and Drake took place at approximately 3:50 a.m. at W.i.P., a nightclub in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City.
In addition to Chris Brown and Drake, Mary J. Blije, Ne-Yo, and Fabolous were also present. The latter three did not participate in the fight.
Man-E Jay informed Gossip Cop that Drake looked “pissed” and “serious” during the whole night. After an unknown provocation, a member of Drake’s party picked up a bottle and nailed Brown directly in the face with it.
According to Jay, “complete mayhem” ensued. He reported that for a “crazy” 15 seconds or so, the rappers’ entourages -each comprised of about fifteen people — hurled anything handy at the other side.
Several participants got struck during the fighting. Big Pat, a bodyguard who worked for Chris Brown, was badly hurt in the commotion. He took a serious head injury protecting his employer.
Brown himself received a gash on his chin. He tweeted it in a photo that he later deleted.
Man-E Jay told Gossip Cop that Chris Brown and Drake never physically touched each other during the fight. Drake was also supposedly not the one who injured Brown.
Gossip Cop obtained photos that showed Brown and Drake hastily leaving the premises right after the fight. NYPD officers and bouncers later cleared out the other club-goers.
Rumors implied that Chris Brown and Drake had fought over Brown’s ex-girlfriend Rihanna, who had been romantically linked to Drake. Man-E Jay could not confirm if the rumor was true.
Chris Brown, Drake allegedly fought at NYC nightclub over Rihanna
June 18th, 2012 by edsel
Karrueche Tan is not going to like the news that Chris Brown allegedly fought with fellow rapper Drake over Rihanna this Thursday.
According to E! News, Brown posted a picture on his Twitter page last night that showed a nasty cut on his chin. ”How u party wit rich n**** that hate?” he accused. “Throwing bottles like girls? #shameonya!” he tweeted.
Both the photo and the tweet were later deleted by Chris Brown.
E! News reported that the injury was supposedly caused by a fight between Brown, Drake, and their entourages at a New York City nightclub. As Chris Brown implied in his tweet, the fight reportedly involved the opposing parties throwing bottles at each other. And judging by the pic Brown posted, someone was a good shot with a thrown bottle.
The NYPD had informed E! News that officers responded to a call of disorderly conduct at the WIP nightclub at around 4:08 a.m. Five club-goers suffered non-threatening lacerations and were taken to local hospitals. The NYPD did not arrest anyone, but there is an ongoing investigation.
Rapper Meek Mill was reported by E! News to have been in the company of Drake during Thursday’s fight. Both rappers were romantically linked with Brown’s ex-girlfriend Rihanna, which supposedly started the fight between Drake and Chris Brown at the WIP nightclub.
Meek Mill responded to the fight in a tweet he posted this morning. “It wasn’t me,” he tweeted before making light of the fight between Brown and Drake. “(shaggy voice) lol,” he added.
Drake had yet to comment on his Twitter page regarding the fight. E! News noted that Drake had a concert scheduled at the Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY on Thursday evening.
According to the WIP nightclub, Mary J. Blige was allegedly present during the fight. She, too, had yet to tweet about the bottle-throwing brawl between Chris Brown and Drake.
Charity of Mary J. Blige accused of failure in paying college grants

The charity of pop star Mary J. Blige has been accused of failing to pay college grants from a number of New York students, saying that their college bills have not been paid.
According to reports, 25 seniors who graduated from the all-girls Women’s Academy of Excellence in 2010 were promised to be granted four-year scholarships by the charity of Mary J. Blige, at the college of their choice. However, several of these aspiring students say that their tuition fees have gone unpaid.
The finances of “Be Without You” singer Mary J. Blige and Steve Foundation for the Achievement of Women Now (Ffawn) were under scrutiny last month after reports emerged about discrepancies in the firms accounts. Reports say Ffawn executives failed to file tax returns for the year 2010, or the annual state charity registration, all while a band of musicians filed a lawsuit against the charity, claiming that the cheques they received bounced after performing at the organization’s star-studded 2011 benefit concert.
Gennevive Sarfoah, one of the seniors who was granted a scholarship, is attending SUNY Canton and made it to the dean’s list. Sarfoah told NY Post that the charity of Mary J. Blige bare paid her tuition fee in time for her first year in college, and since then, she has not received anything. If the charity does not help Sarfoah out soon, she will be forced to drop out of college.
Another mother of a girl who was promised a college grant told the newspaper that her daughter went through the same ordeal, and even tried her very best to contact the charity of pop star, but all her efforts were in vain because she did not get any response.
As previously reported, the charity of the pop singer was sued by TD Bankfor failing to pay back a $250,000 loan. Mary J. Blige said that she “didn’t have the right people in the right places doing the right things” and that they were trying to fix everything.
