Comedienne and actress Mo’Nique has finally settled a messy legal dispute with her landlords over a house she claimed smelled like dog poop.

According to reports, 44-year-old Mo’Nique and her landlords both agreed to drop their lawsuits last week — with the actress paying an undisclosed amount of money.

Previous reports have stated that the Georgia landlords of Mo’Nique filed a lawsuit against her and her husband Sidney Hicks last year, claiming they walked out on their lease agreement still owing $370,000 in unpaid rent. “Precious” actress Mo’Nique fired back with a countersuit, claiming they bailed on the agreement for a number of reasons — including that the house reeked of dog crap, wet dog and urine.

Last March, Mo’Nique’s husband, Sidney Hicks and one of the landlords named Alice traded nasty e-mails. “We do understand that your business has been greatly affected by the cancellation of your weekly talk show. However we do not want the publicity and heartache/hardship for either of us,” Alice wrote. Hicks replied, saying Alice has “a poor man’s mentality …you talk tough when you are owed but run when you owe.”

Despite the war of words, Mo’Nique is still living in the Georgia house. It is said that she has to keep coughing up money for the rent until she moves out.

“Precious” star Mo’Nique says she is completely embarrassed by all the miserly accusations she is facing from the lawsuit that the actress’ landlords filed against her and husband, Sidney Hicks. Now, Mo’Nique wants the case to be sealed from public scrutiny.

According to reports, the “Phat Girlz” actress filed the legal docs last week, claiming that she is an “Oscar-winning actress, television host, and otherwise public figure,” and that the lawsuit is tainting her public image and good reputation.

As previous reports have stated, Mo’Nique has been in a nasty legal battle with her landlords since last year, after she and husband Sidney Hicks walked out on their rental contract. The couple claims that the house reeked of dog poop and urine, but the dispute got utterly bitter and personal. Mo’Nique’s landlords retaliated and filed their own legal docs last month, which included lengthy emails in which the actress’ husband, Sidney, accused them of being drunkards and using illegal workers. The landlords, in turn, reportedly accused Sidney Hicks of smoking pot in the house.

Now, Mo’Nique says the lawsuit has become a big humiliation, claiming that her landlords are capitalizing on the national media attention. The 44-year-old Mo’Nique insists that the personal email exchanges filed by her landlords is totally irrelevant to the case, and will only serve to “unnecessarily harass, embarrass, and cause public ridicule if the record is not sealed.”

Mo’Nique says leaving the case with her landlords open constitutes a violation of her privacy. Now, the judge has sealed the case with Mo’Nique’s landlords until further notice.

Now, new docs have been filed in the legal battle, including an extensive collection of emails between Mo’Nique’s husband, Sidney Hicks, and one of the landlords named Alice, wherein Sidney claims the landlords should be “embarrassed” by the state of the home. Alice responds, mocking Sidney over Mo’Nique’s canceled talk show, writing, “We do understand that your business has been greatly affected by the cancellation of your weekly talk show. However we do not want the publicity and heartache/hardship for either of us.”

Sidney Hicks fires back, claiming Alice “has a poor man’s mentality … you talk tough when you are owed but run when you owe,” to which Alice responds by referring to the stank in the house, writing, “Maybe the illegal substances you use in our home (i.e. WEED) has weakened your sense of smell.”

Hicks retaliates, “The only illegal greenery was with the illegal immigrant you brought on our premises to cut down the trees … Maybe the overuse of alcohol has affected you and your husband’s judgment.”

The said trading of jabs goes on in a lengthy 136 pages email. A judge has yet to rule in the legal battle of Mo’Nique, Sidney Hicks and their landlords.
