“Basketball Wives” star Nia Crooks has been charged with misdemeanor battery after striking co-star Jennifer Williams in the mouth back in January.

According to reports, a rep for the Broward County State’s Attorney’s Office said that the officials decided to file the battery charge against Nia Crooks on April 10 after Jennifer Williams filed a criminal complaint. If Crooks is convicted, she could face a year behind bars.

Previous reports have stated that Williams filed a lawsuit accusing her personal assistant of slapping her on the TV show, claiming that she is still suffering from a neck injury and post traumatic stress since her attack.

The slapping incident, which was aired on Monday, happened when VH1 was filming the group on January 21 in the presidential suite of the Gulfstream Park racetrack in South Florida. The cast members of “Basketball Wives” are seen sitting at a large table, eating, when suddenly Nia Crooks starts yelling at Jennifer Williams, “Why don’t you show the f*****  world who you really are.”

Williams ignores Crooks and carries on eating, refusing to be baited by Nia Crooks. She then makes a remark about slapping Williams saying “Do you need to be slapped in your f****** face to realise the situation?”

To which Jennifer Williams replies nonchalantly, “Yeah, yeah I really wish you would.”

Nia Crooks then rises from her chair and marches around Jennifer Williams, who is still seated at the table. She goes to her and said, “Say are you f******’ serious you need a slap?” to which she whacks Williams on the face from behind, who quickly rises from her chair and pushes her back. The two women then engage in a brawl before two members of production crew break the scuffle.

“I didn’t watch the video for a long time because I lived it,’ Jennifer Williams said, adding, “It’s disturbing. It’s humiliating. I get anxiety just thinking about it.”

Although there have been doubts about the authenticity of the slap, Williams denies the incident with Nia Crooks was scripted.

Jennifer Williams has also filed a complaint with the state attorney’s office in Florida, said lawyer Sanford Rubenstein. The lawsuit seeks unspecified monetary and punitive damages from Nia Crooks. VH1, however, is not named as a defendant.

Jennifer Williams, star of ‘Basketball Wives’ has been in an on-going feud with Evelyn Lozada and assistant Nia Crooks for quite some time now. Earlier this week, Jennifer Williams said that they will “never be friends.” However, Nia Crooks, assistant to Lozada has now decided to escalate things by reporting a house key theft to the police. Lozada’s assistant claims that Jennifer Williams stole her house keys.

If we recall it right, Jennifer Williams and Nia Crooks had a go with each other recently, where it was reported that Nia Crooks pushed Jennifer Williams in the face to get her away.

Now, Nia Crooks filed a house key theft report against Jennifer Williams Monday at the Hallandale Police Department, claiming Jennifer Williams refuses to give back the house keys Nia Crooks loaned her two months ago, when they were still friends.

According to TMZ, Jennifer Williams filed a battery report against Nia Crooks last month, claiming the assistant got agitated with her at a “Basketball Wives” shoot while they were at a Florida racetrack. Since then, there has always been tension in the air when the two are at the same place.

Sources said, Jennifer Williams has been making small threats to Nia Crooks ever since the racetrack incident, such as saying things like “watch your back.” Nia Crooks does not feel comfortable and safe with the idea of  Jennifer Williams having access to her house by having the alleged stolen keys.

Reports say Nia Crooks asked Jennifer Williams several times to return her house keys, but the latter refused to, so Nia Crooks is turning to the authorities for help by filing a house key theft complaint.

And the shizz just got real! As if the taping of ‘Basketball Wives’ was not enough, some of the stars from the reality TV series spiced up the set by making an action scene! Apparently, Jennifer Williams and Evelyn Lozada’s assistant Nia Crooks got a little physical with each other.

According to some sources, the girls were all in a VIP suite at the Gulf Stream Race Track in Hallandale, Florida last Saturday, January 28. Nia Crooks, Evelyn’s assistant, called out to Jennifer Williams, who the other girls feel has become “too big for britches.” The two girls then got face-to-face and Nia Crooks pushed Jennifer Williams in the face to get her away. According to the police report filed after the incident, Jennifer Williams determined the attack as being an “intentional strike by Nia Crooks with an open hand to the left side of her face.”

Jennifer Williams then told police that security from the production company stepped in to mediate between the brawl. Sources also said that security grabbed Evelyn Lozada as well to keep her from attacking Jennifer Williams.

Additionally, the officer states there were no visible injuries on Jennifer Williams and told her she could file a misdemeanour complaint with the state attorney’s office if she wants to pursue taking legal actions against Nia Crooks.

The police report also said Jennifer Williams believes the whole incident was captured on video. However, calls to VH1 were not returned as of the time being.
