Cooking show host Paula Deen has fired back once again to Lisa Jackson, the former general manager at the Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House in Savannah, Georgia owned by Paula Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers. The “Food Network” star claims that Jackson tried to extort her by asking for more than a million dollars, or else Lisa Jackson will “ruin” her.
According to the reports, lawyers of Paula Deen have filed a response to Jackson’s lawsuit, and are seeking a gag order that would keep Lisa Jackson from speaking to the press or talking openly about the lawsuit. Among the evidence included in Deen’s response is a letter reportedly sent to Paula Deen by Jackson’s lawyer. The letter allegedly asked the cooking show host to pay her former general manager a total of $1.25 million settlement to avoid Jackson’s complaints becoming public knowledge.
In the letter, the lawyers of Lisa Jackson reportedly wrote, “If we are unable to settle, the complaint will not be quietly filed. I am making arrangements for a press conference on the day of filing.”
The lawsuit alleges that both Paula Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers, used the n-word in front of employees. Lisa Jackson also claims that Hiers subjected her to sexual harassment by regularly viewing pornography in the small office the two shared, and when she complained to management – no action was taken.
The lawyers of Lisa Jackson did not hold a press conference when filing the lawsuit on Monday. However, news of the lawsuit did leak through the website Radar Online. After Jackson’s lawsuit went public, Deen’s lawyers fired back with a statement.
“Ms. Jackson’s complaint makes false allegations against Paula Deen and they will be proven false in court,” the statement said. “We have filed our defensive pleadings with the court denying Ms. Jackson’s claims and those pleadings are a matter of public record. We will hold Ms. Jackson and her lawyer accountable for these false allegations. We look forward to our day in court and have nothing further to say.”
Paula Deen slams lawsuit filed against her by former employee

“The Food Network” star Paula Deen has responded to the lawsuit filed against her and brother, Bubba Hiers, by their former employee Lisa Jackson. Jackson accused the two of many things, including racism and sexual harassment.
In court papers filed on Monday, Lisa Jackson claims that Paula Deen hurled a racial slur and that Bubba Hiers engaged in “sexually harassing conduct” and created a hostile work environment at Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House, a restaurant the siblings co-own in Savannah.
Now, the office of Deen’s attorney, Oliver Manner, issued the following statement in response to the allegations of Lisa Jackson.
“Ms. Lisa Jackson did work for Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House, and she did some work for Paula Deen Enterprises, LLC. She now claims that she was mistreated during her employment. We investigated those claims and attempted unsuccessfully to address those claims with her. She has made baseless, inflammatory allegations, threatening to go to the press and ruin Paula Deen’s reputation and the reputation of her businesses unless we paid her a large sum of money. We refused to bow to that kind of pressure and refused to pay money to address false claims. Ms. Jackson’s complaint makes false allegations against Paula Deen and they will be proven false in court. We have filed our defensive pleadings with the court denying Ms. Jackson’s claims and those pleadings are a matter of public record. We will hold Ms. Lisa Jackson and her lawyer accountable for these false allegations. We look forward to our day in court and have nothing further to say.”

The Food Network star Paula Deen and her restaurant co-owner brother, Bubba Hiers, are the subject of a lawsuit filed by their former restaurant employee who claims she was a victim of sexual harassment.
According to Lisa Jackson, a former general manager at the duo’s Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House in Savannah, she was subjected to a number of indecent incidents over a period of five years while working at the restaurant of Paula Deen and Bubba Hiers. Jackson claims she quit in August 2010, alleging that she left under the advisement of her physician because of panic attacks and other stress-related health conditions she suffered while working at the Southern restaurant.
The lawsuit alleges that Bubba Hiers repeatedly made sexually inappropriate comments to Lisa Jackson, that he brought “inescapable pornography” to the workplace all the time, distributed inappropriate pictures at work to employees and that he watched pornography in the office Jackson shared with him. Lisa Jackson also claims that Bubba Hiers allegedly asked her to bring photos of herself when she was younger, even telling her, “You have nice legs.” Additionally, Hiers told Lisa two women at the restaurant were “fat girls” and should not be wearing capri pants or skirts.
Some other allegations in the lawsuit against Paula Deen and Bubba Hiers include Hiers telling another female employee who had just received dentures, “I bet your husband is going to like that,” and a joke Bubba Hiers told the staff that described why men should have sex with women who had flat heads … “because you can sit your beer on top of her head while she is giving you a b**w job.”
Lisa Jackson, who was purportedly given six months to turn the alleged “failing” restaurant around when she was promoted to the position back in 2005, said the behavior of Paula Deen was no better. Jackson claims Paula Deen told her, “Now I’m going to do something I’ve never done. I’m going to put a woman in a man’s job,” when Lisa Jackson first took the position.
Moreover, Jackson is also accusing Paula Deen and Bubba Hiers of racism in the lawsuit, claiming they both made racist comments about the restaurant’s African-American employees and required them to use a restroom in the back of the restaurant.
Lisa Jackson is seeking unspecified damages in the case.
