Ex-husband of Christie Brinkley, Peter Cook, claims that her recent stint in the “Today Show” where she cried while recalling their bitter divorce was nothing but a “cunning and shameless” attempt to “garner public sympathy by “dishonest means.”
Architect Peter Cook slammed his ex-wife Brinkley for shedding “crocodile tears” on television in an attempt to gain sympathy and “make herself relevant in the media again.” He released a statement, saying “Christie was entirely dishonest about the circumstances surrounding the current court action which was precipitated by her and … is doing further damage to our children.”
Peter Cook added, “I am also shocked by the blatant lies she [Christie Brinkley] told regarding our divorce proceedings of four years ago, including denying the indisputable fact that she fought for an open courtroom despite the warnings it would harm our children.”
“She will stop at nothing to continue the drama in our lives in order to harass me and keep herself relevant in the media.”
During an interview with Savannah Guthrie on “Today Show” on Wednesday, Peter Cook addressed Christie Brinkley and said, “The entire content of her interview was a lie where she claims that I am harassing and bullying her on a daily basis. We haven’t had a conversation in four and a half years and we haven’t emailed each other in two years. So this perception that I am harassing and bullying her is nonsense.”
Actress Christie Brinkley appeared as well on the “Today Show” just a day before, telling host Matt Lauer that Peter Cook just wouldn’t leave her and her children alone since their divorce in 2008.
“I have turned the other cheek,” Christie Brinkley said regarding avoiding public discussion about their marital dispute, adding, “There’s not one quote from me, anywhere. This is the first time I’ve ever been on a show” to discuss Cook, she said.
However, according to Peter Cook, he’s not the one who keeps flogging a dead horse talking about their relationship.
“Ever since the separation, she has been on a campaign to smear me,” the architect said, pointing out how the drama has escalated recently, seemingly to coincide with Christie Brinkley’s starring role in “Chicago.”
“She can use her celebrity to get the media to say, ‘He’s a bad guy,’ ” Peter Cook told ABC News in a recent interview. “I’m not trying to sell tickets to anything. I don’t want this press. I’m not interested in it.”
“I want peace for my family. I want peace for myself,” he said. “I want to be able to do my job, see my kids and live without the Christie Brinkley shadow over me. That’s all I ask.”
