Philippe Restaurant sued for letting diners smoke weed

Philippe Restaurant — one of the hottest and most famous dining place in New York City — reportedly has a hidden room where stars secretly smoke marijuana while eating delicious Chinese food.

According to reports, the controversial Philippe Restaurant in Midtown, which feeds exorbitant Asian cuisine to stars from the likes of actor Woody Allen and pop singer Rihanna.

However, a new lawsuit filed by four employees of the popular New York City restaurant claims that the guys who run the dining place frequently grant permission to some of their famous clients to smoke marijuana in a private basement dining area.

The employees did not name the Hollywood celebrity marijuana smokers, but they did note that rappers Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj have dined in the basement of Philippe Restaurant.

In the lawsuit, the employees claim that they were forced to serve the stoner clientèle “which exposed them to smoke from a harmful and illegal substance.”

One Philippe Restaurant employee claims he was fired after complaining to the management about not being able to breathe while working in the basement and smelling like marijuana when he returned home from his shift to his wife and son.

The other employees claim their work shifts were significantly reduced in retaliation after they joined another lawsuit against the restaurant, in which they claim they were unfairly tipped out and denied overtime pay.

All four employees are seeking unspecified damages.

Meanwhile, an attorney for Philippe Restaurant released a statement, saying: “The restaurant adamantly denies any allegations that pot smoking or any other smoking is permitted in the restaurant.”
