Singer-songwriter R. Kelly just canceled his highly-anticipated concert aboard a cruise ship, saying that the company cannot pay the original entertainment fee that they have previously agreed upon.

According to reports, Concert Cruise LLC hired 45-year-old R. Kelly to headline their upcoming cruise entitled “Love Letter,” where the singer agreed to play two shows during a five-day trip in October, which will be sailing from Miami to the Caribbean.

However, R. Kelly just pulled out from the previous agreement, claiming that the promoter (Concert Cruise LLC) failed to hand over the payment for his gig. The rep of the singer said, “R. Kelly had been looking forward to the cruise and was ready, willing and able to perform for his fans. He is sorry for any disappointment but plans to see his fans very soon on a U.S. tour.”

Concert Cruise, on the other hand, sent out an apology email to customers, informing them about the cancellation of R. Kelly’s concert, saying that they will “handle all applicable refunds at point of purchase.”

The official website of the singer also posted the cancellation of the cruise ship gig, once again apologizing to the “Bump n’ Grind” hit maker’s fans.

Singer-songwriter R. Kelly claims that the Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams’ movie “The Notebook” was the culprit behind his ruined marriage.

According to media outlet TMZ, 45-year-old R. Kelly finalized his divorce from his wife of 12 years, Andrea Lee Kelly in 2009. In his new memoir named “Soulacoaster: The Diary of Me,” R. Kelly revealed that “The Notebook” gave him realizations that his marriage was not bound to last.

“As the film credits started to roll, I couldn’t move. I burst into tears. People walking past me patted me on the back, trying to console me. ‘The Notebook’ was beautiful, and I was crying because its hero and heroine had died together,” the singer wrote in the memoir. “But I was also crying because I remembered a Valentine’s Day — when a helicopter dropped a rainfall of roses — that had come and gone … My marriage had died. And there was nothing I could do to bring it back.”

R. Kelly and Andrea Lee Kelly first met back in 1994 when Andrea auditioned as a backup dancer for the singer. The former couple tied the knot in 1996 and had three children over the course of their 12-year marriage. However, the relationship of the two suffered far more than just an unsuccessful romance — despite the claims of R. Kelly that “The Notebook” inspired him.

According to the reports of MTV News, Kelly wrote that Andrea was not happy with having to put on hold her dance career to be a full-time, stay-at-home mother. There have even been more serious claims of domestic violence.

Back in 2005, Andrea Lee Kelly filed for an emergency protective order to keep R. Kelly away from her because of claims that the singer is physically abusing his wife. However, Andrea revoked the protective order just weeks later. The couple decided to file for divorce in 2006, but they were still trying to fix things and make the relationship work, according to People magazine.

Recurring problems with his vocal cords forced R&B singer R. Kelly to cancel his Monday plans in New York City.

According to E! News, the ‘Bump n’ Grind’ singer was already on his way to the Big Apple on Monday morning. He would be promoting his new memoir ‘SoulaCoaster’ and his new album ‘Write Me Back’ in media circles.

However, something had apparently gone wrong with last year’s emergency surgery on his vocal chords. So it’s back to Chicago for R. Kelly.

E! News obtained a statement by Kelly’s camp that said the 45-year-old R&B superstar was reportedly suffering from surgical complications related to last year’s operation. Kelly previously underwent surgery to treat an abscess in his vocal chords. He had been believed to be recovered from the ordeal.

Instead, NBC’s ‘The Jimmy Fallon Show’ and ‘Today’ won’t be having R. Kelly over this Tuesday or in the near future. The three-time Grammy winner also had to drop a New York City book party for the publication of ‘SoulaCoaster,’ a memoir chronicling Kelly’s life.

E! News reported that there had been no word from Kelly’s camp regarding his current condition, the probability of another emergency operation, or any guesses as to how long he will be sidelined again.

R. Kelly is a native of Chicago, Illinois. His new album ‘Write Me Back’ has been released this Tuesday.

Troubled singer R. Kelly owed the government a whopping $4.85 million in unpaid taxes.

TMZ first reported that the Grammy Award-winning R&B star failed to pay his taxes from 2005 to 2010. In 2005, Kelly owed nearly $1.5 million worth of unpaid taxes.

E! News obtained copies of records stored with the Cook County Recorder of Deeds. The records show the IRS executed liens of $2,638,77; $1,086,700; and $1,122,694 against R. Kelly on March 21, 22, and 23, respectively.

The financially-strapped Kelly has been going through rough times. Last summer, he ended up owing more than a year’s worth of mortgage payments on his Chicago-area mansion. The singer got hit with a $2.9 million foreclosure suit, and his 11,000-square-foot Olympia Fields home went on the market last December for $1.595 million.

And this year, E! News reported that the R&B star suffered from severe throat pain this July. Kelly was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery.

“R. Kelly is in the process of working everything out with the government,” a rep for the Chicago-based artist told TMZ regarding the matter of his unpaid taxes. Kelly was supposedly ”confident that all his obligations will be satisfied.”

Everything may hinge on the next album R. Kelly releases. His 11th studio release is set for a June 26 debut, said MTV.
