San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Randy Moss is getting back at a hair salon owner by filing a lawsuit against him after the latter allegedly failed to pay back the money he was lent.
Reports say that Randy Moss sued Kelvin Jones, claiming he lost $160,000 investment back in 2005 in a barbershop downtown Delray Beach, Florida. DUring the days when 35-year-old Moss was still playing for the Oakland Raiders, the Pro-Bowler supposedly invested lots of money into the 301 Salon on Atlantic Avenue in Palm Beach, Florida, which will be managed by co-owner Kelvin Jones.
According to the legal docs, the deal stated that Jones was supposed to pay back Moss over eight years along with 25 percent of the revenues from the salon. Kelvin Jones reportedly tried to reimburse the loan with worthless checks. Randy Moss claims in the lawsuit that Jones also changed the name of the corporation that owned the salon to avoid paying back.
The shop’s telephone numbers are disconnected, as are the numbers of Kelvin Jones, his brother Jerel and wife Evelyn. The family opened the joint after running a hair-cutting operation in their backyard. When Randy Moss was still unsuccessful in trying to get his money back, that was when he filed the lawsuit.
According to news accounts about the opening of the shop, Salon 301 also received grants from Delray Beach’s Community Redevelopment Authority and Palm Beach County.
