Locals rush to jail to donate clothes, money to Randy Travis
Country music singer Randy Travis was not wearing a Texas Longhorns hat during his naked arrest — it was reportedly a gift from a local attorney who went to the jail the moment he hear that the singer was in trouble with the law.
According to reports, just moments after word got out about the arrest of 53-year-old Randy Travis, a lot of locals rushed to the jail to help him out, with one man posting Travis’ cash bond and another one offering legal services right away.
The said lawyer was Gary Corley, who told media outlet TMZ the area around Sherman, Texas is a close-knit community where people take care of one another, and that he wanted to “do the humanitarian thing by helping Randy Travis out.
When attorney Corley arrived at the jail where the country singer was staying at the time, he briefly met with Randy, offered his services and told him about the group of photographers waiting outside the jail to take photos of the singer. Corley also added that he was wearing his Texas hat at that time, but then decided to give it to Randy Travis, thinking that he probably needed it more than him. He then gave him the cap right off his head so that the singer may be able to cover his face from the media photographers on his way out of jail.
Gary Corley also had a car waiting for Randy Travis just in case he wanted or needed a ride, but the man who posted the cash bond of the singer had already arranged for transportation.
As of the moment, Travis has not officially hired an attorney for his case, but Gary Corley said he will be there if the singer needs him.
