The mother of Reese Witherspoon is taking her father’s new wife to court. Gossip Cop reported that Mary Witherspoon filed court documents in a Tennessee court asking for the annulment of the January 14 union of her ex-husband John Witherspoon and his new wife, Tricianne Taylor, based on it being bigamy.

The parents of actress Reese Witherspoon remain legally married despite separating back in 1996. Mary claimed that John Witherspoon “may be suffering from early onset of dementia.” Saying she “loves her husband and does not want a divorce,” Mary expressed concerned for her husband’s safety and financial well-being. She then accused Tricianne Taylor of taking advantage of his deteriorating mental condition. Mary Elizabeth Witherspoon claimed to have first come across her husband’s new marriage in a newspaper article. When she asked him about his new wife, John reportedly told her that, “he didn’t know who Tricianne Taylor was and that he did not remember getting married.”

In addition to annulling John and Taylor’s marriage, Mary also wanted the court to bar Taylor from the family’s residences. In addition, she wanted Taylor to surrender any possessions she had taken.

The hearing involving the parents of Reese Witherspoon will take place in Davidson County Circuit Court at the end of May.
