Professional wrestler Rey Mysterio has been suspended by the World Wrestling Entertainment due to a violation of the Talent Wellness Program of the organization.

According to reports, Rey Mysterio – real name Oscar Gutierrez – has been suspended for the second time around for violating a policy of the Talent Wellness Program. The organization released a statement, saying, “In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Oscar Gutierrez (Rey Mysterio) for 60 days effective Thursday, April 26 for his second violation of the company’s policy. “

The 37-year-old Mexican-American wrestler is currently sidelined with a knee injury, and has not appeared in wrestling capacity on WWE TV since August of last year. Rey Mysterio had hoped that he would be able to return in May, but due to his violation of the Talent Wellness Program, the earliest date he could return is June 25.

The pro wrestler was first suspended for a violation in August 2009. At that time, he was slapped with a 30-day ban as it was his first offense. During the first incident, he told “The Record” in Mexico that he was tested positive for a painkiller he was taking for an arm and knee problem. Rey Mysterio argued that he was not given enough time to produce prescription for the painkillers because he was on a promotional tour at the time.

In 2007, Rey Mysterio was named in a Sports Illustrated report, along with several other WWE stars, which claimed numerous wrestlers had obtained subscriptions for steroids. The allegations were before the introduction of the Wellness Policy.

Rey Mysterio is a two-time World Champion, has held the WWE title once and has been Intercontinental champion twice. He held Tag team and cruiserweight gold in both WWE and WCW.
