Rosie O’Donnell suffers from heart attack, recovering at home

Comedian and former daytime TV host Rosie O’Donnell reportedly suffered from a major heart attack last week — but chose to keep it a secret — until now, when she revealed the whole story on her blog.
According to a post on the official blog of Rosie O’Donnell dated August 20 with the title “My Heart Attack,” the TV personality helped an “enormous” woman she spotted in a Nyack, New York parking lot. The said woman asked O’Donnell for help getting out of her car, and she obliged, writing in her blog “it was not easy but together we did it she was up and on her way with gratitude.”
Rosie O’Donnell went on, writing, “A few hours later my body hurt, I had an ache in my chest both my arms were sore, everything felt bruised,” adding that her skin felt clammy and she vomited a while later.
Rosie O’Donnell then took some aspirin and said that she resisted calling paramedics. The following day, she went to see a cardiologist and through an EKG which revealed a massive blockage, O’Donnell’s doctor informed her that her symptoms were a result of a “widow maker” heart attack.
“I am lucky to be here. Know the symptoms ladies, listen to the voice inside. The one we all so easily ignore. CALL 911,” Rosie O’Donnell concluded, adding “50% of women having heart attacks never call 911 … 200,000 women die of heart attacks every year in the US … by some miracle I was not one of them.”
Meanwhile, a rep for the comedian told People, “She is now home and resting comfortably. She is very, very lucky.”
The heart attack is the latest addition for a challenging August in the O’Donnell house. Rosie’s fiancee, Michelle Rounds, was diagnosed with desmoid tumors recently — a rare disease that can damage tissue in the same way as a cancerous tumor.
Aside from her stint on television, Rosie O’Donnell has also been a magazine editor and continues to be a celebrity blogger, LGBT rights activist, producer and collaborative partner in the LGBT family vacation company “R Family Vacations.”
Rosie O’Donnell on Lohan: “She will end up like Whitney Houston”

TV personality Rosie O’Donnell has clarified the remarks she recently said about actress Lindsay Lohan not suitable for playing the role of Liz Taylor.
According to reports, Rosie O’Donnell had another sit-down at “Today” show to clear things up with Lindsay Lohan. The former TV host said that if the “Mean Girls” actress does not change her current lifestyle, she will most likely end up like Whitney Houston.
Rosie O’Donnell stuck to her opinion about Lindsay Lohan, recalling her as a “beautiful, talented little kid,” when she was doing the movie “Parent Trap.” And then, “We’ve all seen what’s happened in the last decade and it’s tragic.”
The 50-year-old TV host added that Lohan can be saved is if she takes a break from the ruthless Hollywood scene.
Rosie O’Donnell went on saying, “Listen, I’m 50 years old, and watching Whitney Houston’s funeral I remember thinking why didn’t more people say what they knew. We all knew. When she would not show up to do this show, not show up to my show. We watched Being Bobby Brown. It was like watching Sid and Nancy. They were people in the throes of addiction.”
Rosie O’Donnell added, “But all we cared about was the ratings, not that this talented individual, this human being, this mother, this daughter, was worth saving and pulling out of the money market industry and I know only someone can be in control of their own sobriety, but to look at Lindsay Lohan you cannot help but feel for her. I do not think she’s untalented. I think she’s quite talented.”
Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan isn’t all that fussed about the remarks of Rosie O’Donnell. “I know that I’m great,” she told Access Hollywood. “I know Liz Taylor really well and we shared some makeup artists … same hairstylist. We’ve worked with a lot of the same people. She sent me a ring at one point in my life, from her House of Taylor Costume Collection. I’m really lucky to be able to do this role and I just want to honor her the way that she should be honored, because she’s helped a lot of people in her life.”
Rosie O’Donnell slams Lindsay Lohan for being cast as Liz Taylor
April 27th, 2012 by faye
Comedian and former TV host Rosie O’Donnell does not approve of Lindsay Lohan being cast as Liz Taylor, claiming that the actress is not capable of carrying out the role because her life is still a big mess.
On Tuesday, Rosie O’Donnell joined the panel discussion of Matt Lauer and Donny Deutsch for the first time in “Today” show called “Today’s Professionals.” The TV personality gave the thumbs down on Lindsay Lohan and expressed her disapproval of the casting of the actress as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime movie, “Liz and Dick.”
“I feel very sorry for her,” Rosie O’Donnell told moderator Matt Lauer and fellow panelists Star Jones and Donny Deutsch when the subject of Lindsay Lohan came up. “I think she needs a lot of help. She needs a lot of time away.”
Rosie O’Donnell continued, “Because she’s had a lot of trouble doing every single movie, including SNL. She was out and not at rehearsal. I think she’s not in a place to work.”
Co-host Star Jones added, “I used to think she [Lindsay Lohan] was extremely talented, but I have not seen enough of her as an actress in recent years to really make an evaluation.”
Though Jones and Deutsch were a bit more open to the casting of the “Mean Girls” star, O’Donnell wasn’t in for it, stating flatly: “I don’t think she’s right for the role, and I don’t think she’s capable at this point of doing what’s needed to portray that character,” she said. “I think the interest level in her has waned significantly.”
And when Deutsch suggested, “She’s our generation’s Elizabeth Taylor…” Rosie O’Donnell lost it.
“You’re out of your mind! You’re a crackhead! The last thing she did good she was sixteen,” Rosie O’Donnell concluded.
Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan said in a statement: “I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well,” adding, “I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.”
The Lifetime movie is Lohan’s latest stop on her personal comeback trail which began with a “Saturday Night Live” hosting gig in early March and a cameo appearance on Fox series “Glee.”
Lindsay Lohan is set to begin filming “Liz & Dick,” in Los Angeles beginning in June. The movie is about the Hollywood icon’s tumultuous love affair with Richard Burton.
Donald Trump: “Rosie O’Donnell is a total failure”

Business magnate and TV personality Donald Trump slammed Rosie O’Donnell after her show got axed from OWN, telling everyone that O’Donnell is a “complete failure.”
Donald Trump took to Twitter his criticisms over O’Donnell and wrote, “Rosie O’Donnell has failed again. Her ratings were abysmal and Oprah cancelled her on Friday night. When will media executives learn that Rosie just hasn’t got it?”
“Frankly, that was just going to happen,” Donald Trump said Monday morning, this time via phone on “Fox & Friends.” “I knew it immediately when they announced it. Rosie O’Donnell fails at everything. She had a variety show, it failed. I mean, she — I don’t understand now, somebody else, some moron will come and hire her again to do something else and that will fail.”
Donald Trump also added, “At some point, let her rest. Let her go away. She’ll never make it and I’ve said it for years. She’ll never make it! She must have a very good agent.”
Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump have been at it back and forth for years. Back in 2006, O’Donnell bashed Trump for not firing then-Miss USA Tara Connor. Donald Trump said he’d started it by bagging on her over her “failed magazine,” which she shuttered in 2002, and told Anderson Cooper at the time that she was “not a smart person,” “a stone cold loser,” “a bully” and a “very unattractive woman both inside and out.”
“The Rosie Show” has been canceled by OWN, with the final show to tape on March 20 and air on March 30 at 7 p.m.
Oprah Winfrey called Rosie O’Donnell “an incredible partner,” continuing, “As I have learned in the last 15 months, a new network launch is always a challenge and ratings grow over time as you continue to gather an audience. I’m grateful to Rosie and the dedicated Rosie Show team for giving it their all.”
Rosie O’Donnell, who taped the show in Chicago, added, ” It was a great year for me — I wish the show was able to attract more viewers — but it did not. So I am headed back to my home in New York – with gratitude. On we go!”
