British actor and comedian Russell Brand is being sued by a pedestrian named Victor Sneed who claims Brand hit him with his car earlier this year in Los Angeles.

According to court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, 37-year-old Russell Brand was driving “negligently” when he collided with the plaintiff, a guy named Victor Sneed, back in January.

In the legal docs. Sneed claims he was a pedestrian and suffered personal injury, property damage and incurred hospital bills as a result of the accident.

However, the lawsuit of Victor Sneed does not go into the details of his alleged injuries, but it’s claimed that the accident lost him wages.

Victor Sneed is now suing Russell Brand for over $25,000.

This is not the first time Brand was the subject of news headlines and controversy. Last year, he was in hot water after smashing a paparazzo’s iPhone in New Orleans. The British funnyman got off with community service and a fine in the incident.

Russell Brand — the estranged husband of pop superstar Katy Perry — is also renowned for his womanizing ways, which led him being ripped by singer Danni Minogue.

Danni told FemaleFirst: “He is completely crazy and a bit of a vile predator. I certainly don’t think he has cured his sex addiction, that’s for sure. He wouldn’t take no as an answer. He always goes that step too far. Never quite far enough to slap his face, but usually too far.”

However, the “Rock of Ages” star is still capturing the heart of the United States, not least when he recently told TV host Jay Leno about the “wardrobe” malfunction he had suffered at the recent closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.

Russell Brand told Leno about how his trousers ripped minutes before he took to the stage because of some over enthusiastic “limbering up” exercises.

The comedian, who has recently been linked to Geri Halliwell and well as his usual number of mystery women, said: “Well, I enjoyed the bit where it was all the running, the jumping, the skipping, the skylarking, the hullabaloo, the competitiveness, the beads of sweat, that was all lovely.”

“But when it came to that bit that I had to do… just before I went on stage in that clip… I thought – once they said “Do you wanna be in the Olympics?” – on some level, I thought, “I’m an athlete now”

Russell Brand went on, “So, before I did [my song], I did some limbering up, exercises, but because I don’t know how to limber up properly, ’cause I’m not really an athlete, I did it badly”

“One minute before I had to go on top of that bus… I heard this [ripping] noise, like that, and my trousers tore – a significant distance – and at that point, someone said, “Right! Get on top of the bus!”‘

British comedian Russell Brand gave his thoughtful insight on why he thinks his short-lived marriage with pop star Katy Perry failed during an interview on Australia’s “60 Minutes.”

According to reports, 37-year-old Russell Brand — who split from Katy Perry last December after just 14 months of marriage, said in the interview: “If you sort of sense there’s an incompatibility, then in any relationship, regardless of the status of the individual, it kind of is best to go separate ways.”

The English actor added that while opposites may attract, it doesn’t mean their relationship will be sustainable in the long run.

Russell Brand noted, “I think if you’re someone who’s really into mountain biking, it would be good to go out with someone who’s into mountain biking, and if you’re really into Eastern mysticism, go out with someone else who’s into Eastern mysticism.”

The “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” actor then concluded, “I think if you’re a devoted tennis professional and you get married to a crystal meth addict, you might have trouble. I’ve been in a lot of trouble.”

Brand is noted in the British media due to his eccentricity and for controversies, such as his dismissal from MTV after he dressed as Osama bin Laden, his behaviour as presenter of various award ceremonies and his former drug use.

British actor and comedian Russell Brand began his panel during the 2012 Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour by delivering some good news first: his stream-of-consciousness FX talk show called “Brand X with Russell Brand” had been reportedly renewed for an additional seven more episodes. However, the “Get Him to the Greek” actor did not let the session pass without targeting Sarah Palin with a vulgar proclamation which overshadowed a discussion immediately about Brand’s renewed show.

By addressing the popularity of former Alaska Governor, 37-year-old Russell Brand said, “The reason that Sarah Palin has been so long tolerated is that latent inquisition around her vagina,” Brand laughed during a question and answer session at the Television Critics Association press tour. “People want to f-ck her, don’t they? That’s why they tolerate the other stuff… The dick don’t lie!”

The jokes of comedian Brand about Sarah Palin have already gotten him in hot water before. Back in 2008, after he hosted the MTV Video Music Awards, the British actor admitted that the network had cut a joke from the telecast involving Palin’s then-pregnant daughter Bristol, abortion and the electric chair. “I wanted to say she was forcing her teenage daughter to have a baby because she is so anti-abortion. But also, as a Republican she is pro-execution so she is going to give her the electric chair for being a little slut,” Russell Brand reportedly told The Telegraph.

Aside from Sarah Palin, Russell Brand also took a jab at fast food chain Chick-Fil-A during the panel — the restaurant that has come under fire after its CEO, Dan Cathy, expressed his disapproval of gays and same sex marriage. Brand called the fast food chain “a racist chicken dispensary.” Later, he clarified his remarks. “Didn’t Chick-Fil-A say that they’re racist now? Or homophobic? I get mixed up with the prejudices.”

British actor and comedian Russell Brand has been sentenced to perform 20 hours of community service and pay a court fee of $500 for his misdemeanor charge over a confrontation with a photographer in New Orleans.

According to reports, Robert Glass, the attorney of 37-year-old Russell Brand, entered a not guilty plea Thursday on the actor’s behalf to a charge of simple criminal damage to property. The charges reportedly carries a maximum sentence of six months behind the cold bars of prison.

Previous reports have stated that the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star turned himself to the police just three days after his encounter with a photographer who was attempting to take a picture of him. Police said that the British comedian grabbed the man’s mobile phone and threw it in a nearby building, resulting in a broken window of a law office.

“He’s a good guy,” attorney Glass said. “He was harassed.”

The alleged victim was with a group of photographers that time, following the comedian’s car on March 12. Police reports stated that a “highly irate” Russell Brand pulled over and confronted the unknown man, reaching inside his vehicle to grab his mobile phone.

“The victim believing that (Russell Brand) was going to hit him in the groin grabbed for the offender’s hand and a struggle ensued with the victim receiving a small cut on his finger,” the report stated. “The victim felt the offender pull something off his lap and suddenly realized that the offender had taken his cellphone.”

Robert Glass said that a deal with the district attorney’s office calls for the case to be dismissed if the actor completes his community service requirement by the 31st of August.

“You’ll return with proof that Mr. Brand completed the community service?” Municipal Court Judge Sean Early asked, to which Glass responded, “Correct.”

Glass said Russell Brand may be able to complete the required 20 hours of community service through his charitable work with people suffering from addictions.

“Some of it may be abroad in England. Some of it may be in California,” Glass said.

The publicists of English comedian Russell Brand did not respond immediately to an email seeking comment regarding the case.

In a Twitter post after the iPhone throwing incident, Russell Brand wrote, “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.”

Brand’s film credits include “Get Him to the Greek” and the 2011 remake of the 1981 Dudley Moore film “Arthur.” He also has a late-night show on FX called “Brand X with Russell Brand.”

In February, a judge granted him a divorce from pop singer Katy Perry.

British funny man Russell Brand will be charged with a misdemeanor in New Orleans for throwing a photographer’s iPhone through a window back in March.

According to reports, the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s office has finally decided to go forward with the case and prosecute “Get Him to the Greek” star Russell Brand. They are reported to be filing one charge of misdemeanor criminal damage to property against the English comedian.

New Orleans Municipal Court spokesman Baptiste Souquet said that 37-year-old Russell Brand was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday before Judge Sean Early. It was unclear if the actor will be present in the courtroom, or if his attorney will be allowed to enter a plea on his behalf.

As previous reports have stated, Russell Brand was arrested by the New Orleans police on March 15 after a photographer accused him of snatching his iPhone and throwing it through the window of a nearby building, resulting in a broken glass in a downtown law office. Brand then turned himself in to the authorities and explained his actions on his Twitter account, writing, “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.”

Bail was set at $5,000 for Russell Brand and he was released shortly after he was arrested.

In case he is convicted, Brand faces six months behind the cold bars of prison.

The charge of simple criminal damage to property valued under $500 carries a potential penalty of up to six months in prison and/or a $500 fine. People familiar with similar cases say it is unlikely that Russell Brand will face jail time.

This is not the first time the comedian had a run-in with the law. Back in 2010, he was arrested for an alleged attack on a paparazzi at a Los Angeles airport, while last year, he was deported from Japan over his criminal history when he attempted to pay a visit to his then-wife Katy Perry on her concert tour in the country.

A candid Katy Perry shared with Jay Leno how she did “everything she could” to keep her marriage with ex-husband Russell Brand alive, a struggle documented on her new documentary movie.

Gossip Cop reported that the 27-year-old Perry told Leno about her divorce from Brand on ‘The Tonight Show last Thursday. The ‘Firework’ singer chose to include the demise of their marriage in  ’Katy Perry: Part Of Me,’ a movie that covered both her career and her personal life.

In her movie, Perry wanted to show her fans “what was underneath the hood. Just because you’re in the spotlight,” she told Jay Leno, “doesn’t mean you get to dodge the curve balls.” According to the award-winning singer, “They’re actually bigger” for celebrities like herself.

According to Gossip Cop, Katy Perry felt that her relationship with Russell Brand was an integral part of the movie.“I think that if you were to see the movie,” Perry opined, “[And the relationship wasn't mentioned],” moviegoers would leave the theaters feeling that something was missing.

“Hmm, that’s strange,” Perry cited what people who watched such an incomplete telling of the movie would think. “I know something else happened in her life at that time last year,” she said to Jay Leno.

Perry told Lena that ”Part of Me’ was her chance to show her fans that she also goes through some of the same things as they do.

In the documentary movie ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me,’ the singer struggled to find time in her busy schedule to be with Russell Brand. “I’m trying to keep my marriage alive,” she declared to the camera during a flight.

“I did everything I could,” Katy Perry admitted to Jay Leno about the inevitable failure of her marriage to Russell Brand, “But it still failed.”

Run, Katy Perry hecklers and Graham Norton. Russell Brand got himself a gun, and he fancied himself a John Wayne.

Earlier this week, the usually mild-mannered Brand lost his temper with British host Norton after the latter asked him about his divorce with Katy Perry, who had dropped by Norton’s show last week. Now the Inquisitr reported that the 37-year-old ‘Rock of Ages’ actor had decided to pack some heat.

“Don’t learn to fire guns,” the mother of Russell Brand had told him. But the comedian revealed to the Sun that he bought a gun anyway after he moved to Los Angeles.

“Well, I’ve learnt [how to use one] and now I’ve got one,” Brand shared. The soon-to-be-ex-husband of Katy Perry (their divorce officially takes effect on July) couldn’t believe himself what he had just done. “I mean, me, own a gun?” he asked. “I shouldn’t really have access to hair gel,” he added, “But I can fire a gun if I need to.”

According to the Inquisitr, Russell Brand went on to joke around with the Sun. He told the paper that guns were “cool” and that owning one “felt like a Hollywood legend” like in the old American Westerns with Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson.

“To be honest,” Brand told the Sun, “Guns are fun.” He said that he was firing all over the place while learning how to use one. “Obviously not at people,” he clarified, “But I was hitting all these targets. I felt like John Wayne,” Russell Brand claimed.

(Perhaps Katy Perry punching an evil Prince Charming -who was allegedly an allusion to Brand- during her recent ‘Wide Awake’ music video made him worry for his safety?)

Russell Brand also promoted his new movie ‘Rock of Ages,’ a musical comedy with Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin, to the Sun.

Russell Brand recently castigated TV host Graham Norton for by bringing up his divorce from Katy Perry while his mother was present.

Gossip Cop reported that comedian Brand appeared on ‘The Graham Norton Show’ this Friday to promote his new movie ‘Rock of Ages.’ He ended up tearing Norton a new one for bringing up his split while Brand’s mother, Barbara Elizabeth Brand, was in the audience.

“My mom is here,” Russell Brand fumed. “She got upset when you dragged up my marriage,” he warned Graham Norton, and claimed that he saw his mother cry at the mention of Katy Perry.

“That’s the reality because it’s real people, Graham,” Brand angrily continued, “That’s my real mom. I have come here to promote a film,” he declared, “And you made my mom cry. I don’t see you as that sort of person, Graham,” Brand chastised.

According to Gossip Cop, Graham Norton explained that he had Katy Perry as his guest last week.  Norton Claim that it would have felt “weird” if he had not asked Russell Brand about her,

Norton’s excuse failed to appease the furious Brand. “Will people sit and think ‘Oh that’s odd?” the ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’ actor demanded.

“What I would have done, mate,  in your position,” Brand firmly advised Graham Norton, “Is come up to me before the show and gone ‘Eh, listen it’s a bit odd your ex-missus was on last week. I might mention it, is that OK?” he strongly suggested.

Russell Brand and Katy Perry divorced last year. In a recent  interview, Brand declared that he was still in love with his pop superstar ex-wife. He also recently halted a stand-up comedy gig in New Jersey to chew out a heckler who used Perry’s name in vain.

Looks like there weren’t any ‘Fireworks’ between Katy Perry and Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd the way there was with ex Russell brand.

According to The Hollywood Gossip, Perry is once more single and eligible after ending her relationship with her rebound rocker beau. The two weren’t a pair for very long, having gone public last month by kissing at Coachella.

A source close to Katy Perry said that the romance “wasn’t serious. Perry liked Robert Ackroyd ”a lot,” but their fling was merely a distraction to take her mind off her divorce with Russell Brand.

“She’s still dealing with getting over her marriage,” the source said of Katy Perry, “And it’s going to take her a while to truly be able to trust anyone again.”

The Hollywood Gossip source added that ”She’s still friends with Rob, but they were never serious…” Perry apparently bore doubts about their relationship from the get-go. “There are no hard feelings,” said the source.

The two stars understood that they were both very busy and held no expectations. Robert Ackroyd was “a good guy,” noted the source, but Katy Perry wanted to focus on her work.

In a Tuesday interview on ‘Ellen,’ she revealed the reason behind her inclusion her split from Russell Brand in her upcoming movie, ‘Katy Perry: Part of Me.’

“I thought it was important to show everything in between,” Perry confided in Ellen DeGeneres. “Sometimes people think that we’re perfect,” she shared, “And we know we’re not perfect, at all.”

Russell Brand also stopped by ‘Ellen’ last week. The comedian said he still loved his ex-wife Katy Perry.

Memo to prospective hecklers: Do not yell “Katy Perry” during a Russell Brand live performance or he will hunt you down and chew you out in front of an audience. And it will be funny.

Perez Hilton reported that Brand was performing at Atlantic City’s Borgata Resort last Saturday when a heckler began yelling “Katy Perry” over and over again.

Russell Brand endured repeated mentions of his ex-girlfriend and other indignities. Then the heckler yelled “God save the queen!” during a skit about the royal family.

That was the last straw for the Brit comedian. Russell Brand cut his skit short and asked for the house lights to be turned on “because I really want to achieve some sort of confirmation.” He then enlisted the help of his avid audience to single out the heckler.

Having found his quarry, Russell Brand proceeded to verbally roast the heckler for several minutes straight. ”I was hoping that your personality was a result of physical beauty,” he mocked, “And then I saw you. I thought, this guy’s confident because he’s incredibly handsome. But look at you. You look like something that’s fallen off the side of a church.”

Professing sarcastic interest in the heckler’s supposed “mental illness,” Brand continued, “And what is it that you have rattling around in your mind? Some bizarre combination of alcohol and idiocy. Some cocktail of nothing. And yet you have the confidence to continue shouting.”

The displeased Russel Brand ended his verbal roast by advising the heckler to “keep your lips firmly, firmly clamped together. Because everything that comes out of your mouth, from your idiotic announcements to your disgusting halitosis that’s coming through this room, is an abomination.”
