Getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol is never a good idea – not even for Hollywood stars. Another addition to the multitude of stars being nabbed for driving under the influence is ‘Bering Sea Gold’ cast, Shawn Pomrenke. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after backing his car onto a pedestrian and escaping the scene.
According to reports from TMZ, the incident happened last December 9 in Nome, Alaska. It was reported that Shawn Pomrenke hopped into his car and struck one citizen carrying his groceries. Shawn Pomrenke then drove off after “smiling and giving a thumbs-up.”
The police eventually caught up with Shawn Pomrenke down the road, who then admitted to having a couple of alcoholic drinks and lacking car insurance. Shawn Pomrenke registered a blood alcohol level of .125 on a breathalyser – a level nearly twice the legal limit in Alaska. Shawn Pomrenke also bombed a field sobriety test.
Shawn Pomrenke was arrested right then and there and was charged with driving under the influence or DUI, failing to return to the scene of an accident, driving without insurance and third-degree assault.
Shawn Pomrenke is just one of the cast of gold-diggers featured in the Discovery Channel show, ‘Bering Sea Gold.’ The documentary series exhibits the lives of fortune hunters who spend their summers at the bottom of the Bering Sea hunting for gold.
The 36 year-old Shawn Pomrenke is the co-owner of The Christine Rose – an 80-foot river barge that digs up gold-laden silt from the bottom of the sea. Shawn serves as captain and chief engineer together with his father, Steve, and deckhands Robbi Wade and Cody Moen.
