It looks like the newest singing sensation, Adele, has somehow lost her cool during the Brit Awards. The multi-awarded singer reportedly did the middle finger salute when she was cut off by the host while the ‘Chasing Pavements’ singer was giving an emotional acceptance speech.

The 23-year-old British singer swept six nominations during the Grammy Awards 2012, and now Adele has also won two Brit Awards for British Female Solo Artist and Album of the Year for her second release, “21.”

“Thank you very, very much. Nothing makes me prouder than coming home with six Grammys, then coming to the Brits and winning Album of the Year. Nothing makes me prouder than to be British,” Adele said during her acceptance speech at the Brit Awards. It was that moment when host James Corden walked up to Adele as the crowd began booing. “I’m so sorry and I can’t believe I’m about to cut you off…” Corden said into the microphone. “Are you about to cut me off? Can I just say then, goodbye and I’ll see you next time round,” Adele quickly wrapped up before doing the middle finger salute to cheers from the audience – an act caught by ITV cameras and broadcast across the U.K.

Adele was forced to give way to Brit Awards Outstanding Contribution winner, Blur’s closing performance when the show ran over, in part due to Blur singer Damon Albarn’s long acceptance speech, reports say. But the ‘Rolling in the Deep’ singer Adele wants everyone to know that the middle finger salute she did was not aimed at her fans.

“I was cut off during my speech but I wanted to thank the British public for all their support. I was held up with my voice and troubles but the album kept walking without me,” Adele explained. “I flipped the bird for the suits at the BRITS who cut me off. I’m sorry if I offended anyone but it was the suits that offended me. Thank you all very much and thanks to my fans. I don’t want them to think I was swearing at them,” Adele said at the backstage of the Brit Awards.

As an apology to the multi-awarded Adele, a Brit Awards spokesperson said in a statement, “We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short this evening due to the live show over-running.”

Adele was also nominated for Best British Single at the Brit Awards, but that prize was given to ‘X Factor’ boy band One Direction, who earned their first Brit for their hit “What Makes You Beautiful.” Earlier in the night of the Brit Awards, Adele was presented the award for Best Female Artist by Kylie Minogue, who looked stunning  in a blue dress which had a large split up the front, showing her gorgeous legs. Adele hugged the Minogue, then jokingly said, “I feel like I look like a drag queen next to you … I’m wearing heels.”
