Recalling recent events, Taran Noah Smith was recently arrested by the police in a suburb of Los Angeles early this month for driving under the influence or DUI, as well as drug possession. Now, the “Home Improvement” star has been formally charged.

According to E! News, Taran Noah Smith faces up to one year and a half in jail, plus a $1,500 fine if Smith is convicted of DUI and drug possession.

Taran Noah Smith was arrested at around 1:50 a.m. on February 1 for DUI and drug possession. The authorities approached Taran Noah Smith’s 1998 silver Honda because his car was parked in front of a fire hydrant. The officers smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle and when they conducted a quick search, they found hash. The police also conducted a sobriety test, to which Taran Noah Smith failed to pass.  He was then taken into custody and is due back in court on March 1.

The actor,  who portrayed the role of Tim Allen’s youngest son, Mark Taylor on the 90s sitcom “Home Improvement” has not appeared on screen since the hit show went off the air in 1999. Also in the same year, Taran Noah Smith’s voice was used for a character in an episode of the animated series “Batman Beyond.” Back in 2001, Smith filed a lawsuit against his parents for fraud and claimed they were using his Hollywood earnings.

Then-17-year-old Taran Noah Smith married 32-year-old Heidi Van Pelt in 2001.  The couple began a vegan business together but eventually divorced in 2007.

In September 2011, Taran Noah Smith reunited with his “Home Improvement” co-stars, including Jonathan Taylor Thomas, for a photo shoot for Entertainment Weekly. The former cast members had previously reunited at the TV Land Awards.

DUIs and drug possession seem to be a never-ending case for Hollywood stars. And again, another one has been caught red-handed. ‘Home Improvement’ actor Taran Noah Smith was nabbed by the authorities  early morning of Wednesday allegedly while driving under the influence (DUI) and drug possession.

The Los Angeles Police apprehended Taran Noah Smith around 1 a.m. local time. Authorities say they found a pile of hash at the 1998 silver Honda Accord of Taran Noah Smith and speculated that the actor was under the influence of drugs when they arrested him. Taran Noah Smith was then booked for felony drug possession plus the DUI charges.

He played the role of Tim Allen’s youngest son, Mark Taylor in the successful 1990s sitcom ‘Home Improvement’. Since then, Taran Noah Smith has only appeared in small feature films.

The actor married chef and artist Heidi Van Pelt when he was just 17 years old back in 2001. Heidi Van Pelt is 16 years older than Smith, but the two eventually divorced in 2007. In 2002, Smith had a dispute with his parents over the control of his trust fund, alleging that they had dissipated all of his Hollywood earnings.
