A movie date gone bad for ‘The West Wing’ star Timothy Busfield got worse as his date is now taking the matter to the L.A. City Attorney for possible prosecution on grounds of sexual assault.
According to TMZ, a woman claimed the 54-year-old Busfield groped her privates during a movie date at a theater in San Fernando Valley. The affronted woman ended the date early and went to the cops, claiming that ‘The West Wing’ actor committed sexual assault against her.
Sources in the LAPD informed TMZ that detectives intended to interview Timothy Busfield. After that interview, the cops will send the file over to the City Attorney of Los Angeles.
Busfield can choose not to talk to cops. But he will still have to talk to prosecutors.
Fortunately for Timothy Busfield, the City Attorney can only file misdemeanor sexual assault charges against him. Such charges carry a maximum penalty of six months in jail. In contrast, the LA. County District Attorn can file felony charges with significant prison time.
